April 9, 201610 yr The definition of flat-track bully and absolutely anonymous most of the time. Not surprising I had to go back 4 pages on the forum to find his discussion. It illustrates just how many things have gone wrong at this club this year that no-one really mentions that a player who cost £20 million from the European Champions might be a bust. 7 goals isn't too bad but 5 of them have come against teams likely getting relegated (2 against Newcastle, 2 against Villa, 1 against Sunderland) whilst another came against Stoke. The one against West Brom on his debut was arguably his finest moment for us. Is there an argument for keeping him around next season?
April 9, 201610 yr It being his first season with no pre season with his teammates is a pretty good argument I would say. My only problem with him is that when he's not scoring goals or getting into goal scoring positions, he offers very little else apart from workrate which simply isn't good enough for the price we paid.

That's a very good argument. But there's also the possibility that the relegation-threatened teams are his level in this league and now is the time to cash in on him. It doesn't seem to be an issue of fitness, but more a case of him looking lost in certain games whilst excelling against bad teams.

This team has no structure or organisation, I don't blame him for looking lost. He's a top quality winger, unfortunately for him he joined us at the worst time possible.

I don't think there's a single player in the squad you can say shouldn't have their position considered, especially when that person is the fifth most expensive player on the FFP chart yet hasn't shown very much in terms of value to the club. Maybe Conte fancies him, maybe he doesn't even play with wingers but Pedro has been a disappointment in a season of many disappointments. Has he done anything of note in a match against a team higher than 13th in the league?
April 9, 201610 yr Could be a case of as he has only ever been at barcelona he isnt used to having a tough game week in week out in the league, could be a bit daunting and take some getting used too I suppose, id be inclined to sell though saying that if a suitable upgrade is brought in for him of course.

At least Pedro looks like he wants to be here. Next year it could the latest twist in the story of Roman...." The Return of Cuadrado" and that is something to actually be worried about.

Next year it could the latest twist in the story of Roman...." The Return of Cuadrado" and that is something to actually be worried about. You're absolutely right that Pedro seems far more willing this season than Eden, but a lot of it seems to be him spinning his wheels to little effect. I just question his quality which is a weird thing to say of someone with such a stuffed trophy cabinet. And I think Cuadrado is a definite possibility to return considering Conte's reported admiration of him. I'd be open to seeing how he'd work under him and the truth is we already own him so it's one of the easier moves to make this summer.
April 10, 201610 yr I like Pedro, I think he's maybe the most direct attacking player we have but he definitely blows hot and cold from game to game. I'm not sure he's ever going to be a regular starter for us but give me Pedro over Cuadrado all day long. Personally I think he influences the attack far more than Willian does in open play as well.
April 10, 201610 yr Has struggled with our lack of creativity in the final third. He is at heart a finisher rather than creator. We haven't made good use of him. Couldn't count the amount of times he has been in a good position and people don't square to him. I think with a proper final third structure he will score a hat full next season.

Love the comradery of the team to do all they can to beat Spurs. They seem to know they f*cked up and how much this match means to the fans.
April 29, 201610 yr Author I actually think in recent months he's performed far better than he's getting credit for.
April 29, 201610 yr Yesterday I found out that Pedro, David Silva and Valeron are all from the Canary Islands, which I never knew.

April 29, 201610 yr ^ I have no idea, although I don't think they're in the top division. I know Las Palmas (whom I embarrassingly also just found out are from the Canary Islands and is how I found out about Pedro) are back in La Liga and have a 75-year-old Valeron playing for them. One thing that made me laugh from a few months ago was something Sid Lowe (I think) was talking about. There was a game between Las Palmas and Levante; apparently 'Levante - Las Palmas' [roughly] translates to 'put your hands up'.

I have a colleague who's from the Canary Islands originally, Las Palmas is his home team. He's a Barca fan though... well, no one can be perfect. At least he's a nice guy and a great colleague.
May 12, 201610 yr Last night summed Pedro up for me. Some nice moments and good feet but ultimately NOT quite good enough. Hazard put one on a plate for him and that should have been 2-0 & game over yet minutes later we drop points (although not his fault that Begovic completely f**ked up). Just not convinced with Pedro. At times he's good and a tidy player but just lacks that special something so it will be interesting to see what Conte decides.
May 12, 201610 yr He's one of the most direct players we have IMO. Yes he missed a good chance but so have many this season. He got himself into that position with a great run and good skill to wrong foot the last man. I rate him much higher than the likes of Willian when it comes to attacking play. He will be an important player next season with a pre season behind him and a more settled regime (he came in when the dressing room appeared to be gunning for Jose).
May 12, 201610 yr Author It's only his first season here as I'd say he's been decent. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

In his defence at least he is brave enough to get himself in to those scoring positions. He takes responsibility and looks to influence the game and score goals. Willian by contrast, and last night was a good example, doesn't make those same incisive runs and take up good scoring positions. I quite like Pedro personally.

The tag of "not good enough" is perfect for Pedro, because in all honesty, he simply is not. While I understand the sentiment of people who still want Pedro for the next season, I simply cant agree with them for the following reasons: 1. Lack of quality to improve our starting 11, when compared to the likes of Willian and/or Hazard. 2. No european competition: Less number of games, Lesser number of injuries, less gametime for a backup squad player, the time and oppurtunity which can be used to blood in musonda/kenedy. Moreover Pedro would be a fixture in cup competitions, which SHOULD be for the likes of musonda/kenedy. 3. Age. He is 28. I honestly cant see him having much of a role to play next season. A couple of PL starts, domestic competitions etc. Simply dont think he is "worth" investing a year in specially when we can use this year to make musonda/kenedy as a mainstay of the team. If we had CL, Pedro should definitely have been in the team, but without CL, fixture congestion his role in the squad can easily be fulfilled by musonda/kenedy. Give them the exposure. I honestly cant think of a better situation to blood them in. Otherwise when are we going to do that? Or are we ready to have another Kdb, Lukaku fiasco.
