February 4, 201610 yr Some people need to grow up. We were getting d*cked by every team we faced with Jose. And now because Guus is doing what he does best and is steadying the ship we've got the moaners out in force. I'll probably get some stick but it's the truth. One good result against MK Dons, and now we're expected to beat everything we face. 0-0 is a decent result and all it took was us to go gung ho for one attack and leave JT and Zouma against Deeney and Ighalo and that's game over. So be grateful for how things are going, you don't switch confidence on and off. Agreed Mikel and Matic was overkill but Guus played a team he had faith in and they didn't lose so his faith was repaid. When Jose announces his role at Man utd a lot of the Jose brigade will be happy once again. That was as depressing as Guus being manager
February 4, 201610 yr 5 draws and 2 wins out of 7 is not good. Against Arsenal, Chelsea was the better team even up until the sending off. Guus just wants to go out with a trophy and a good league record with not many loses for his CV. Good on him too. But it was clear to see Hazard should of started against Watford, ok you made a mistake and bring him on at half time, oh no wait till the 70min was terrible.
February 4, 201610 yr Totally. How short our memories are! Look at this thread, especially the later pages. http://www.theshedend.com/topic/28712-relegation-a-real-possibility Guus isn't a perfect manager, but considering the mess he inherited, there is no doubt that he's gotten us out of the relegation battle, the players are performing better, everyone is happier. I do wonder if Guus is a little paranoid about relegation though. Just two weeks ago, when basically everyone thought that relegation was no longer a threat, he was still talking about how concerned he was. We arent out of it yet.
February 5, 201610 yr He's doing a decent job here, but we really need a manager next season, even if he's willing to do another season. He's been way too cautious and predictable. As I said before, the unbeaten run is way too over rated, I take 5 wins and 2 losses over the 2 wins and 5 draws anytime. The relegation factor is still in his mind, and will be there for a while until we grab a couple of wins on the trot.
February 6, 201610 yr Simple fact 1 win = 3 draws ffs Gus take a chance 4 4 2 everybody in football knows the chelsea line up so forget the press conferences there is 13 games to go 2 wins and we will be safe due to the fact villa. sunderland., newcastle. are in a worse position than us So let give Kennedy , loftus cheek, and others a go as soon as we have a couple of wins and at least we can get something out of this season after all lots of other teams are blooding young players , man u , everton , spurs , arsenal , and are youth are renound for beng some of the best in europe Edited February 6, 201610 yr by dellaw
February 7, 201610 yr Mikel will continue to play no matter what under Guus. It's fine against teams who dominate us but when we are looking to be on the front foot it's just never going to work. Poor managerial display last night Why did it work against Palace and Sunderland?
February 7, 201610 yr You really cant win with some fans Guss did the right thing he gave watford the respect they deserve if he had done the opposite and lost fans would still complain at this point SOME and i stress SOME of the chelsea fans are becoming the worst moaners they are starting to turn into Arsenal. Few months ago we would have lost this easily .....point away happy now lets beat United at home. That's the reason why a manager can't last here for more than three years.
February 7, 201610 yr That was as depressing as Guus being managerYou are the most negative fan I have ever seen.

Usually it's not only the vocal fans it's the media too, but I don't see much criticism of Guus by the media. Guus is only here for 6 months. You're not going to get him sacked because his contract ends anyway. Why be so unsupportive?
February 7, 201610 yr You are the most negative fan I have ever seen. Negative fan watching negative football
February 7, 201610 yr Why did it work against Palace and Sunderland? Mikel didn't start against Sunderland
February 7, 201610 yr Im telling you, hes aiming for a point a match He's doing exactly what he should be doing. Trying to make us hard to beat and snatching wins when he can to slowly repair our fragile minds. He's an interim. People expecting a Mourinho/Ferguson/Guardiola hybrid who plays ultra attacking with superb defence with half the team being kids are delusional. We fired our manager, this is what we get. Best people get used to it. Edited February 7, 201610 yr by Stim
February 7, 201610 yr Another point added to the most over rated unbeaten streak. I wouldn't be surprised if he send out the same team again next week, we are crawling towards the magic 40

Hes out for his interests, not the clubs43 points and playing the same every week suits him just fine Edited February 7, 201610 yr by TheChelseaBlues
February 7, 201610 yr Swapped josr for this dross Yes we did. Remember were we were when Mourinho was sacked? Within a whisker of the bottom three. Relegation was a genuine possibility. Ok it might be disappointing that since Hiddink took over, a few more of those draws haven't turned into victories, but we are gaining ground, besides which it's a fair bet that a good few of those recent draws would have been defeats had Mourinho still been in charge. The upshot of this is that we've been edging towards safety, still not 100% out of the woods, but neither do we appear to be the relegation candidates we looked just a few short weeks ago. Any chance of the title had long gone by the time of Hiddink's appointent and even a top four finish was looking increasingly remote.Without pretending to be privy to the thoughts of Ambramovitch and the board, I would say that Hiddink's remit was to keep us up, And that's exactly what he's doing. If we can progress in the FA Cup and/or Champion's League, then so much the better, but given the disastrous start to this season, the priority has to be to avoid relegation. We're not safe yet, but we ARE getting there. Just one little indication. Remember the West Brom game the other week? West Brom fans were singing: "Down with the Villa, you're going down wit the Villa". They weren't alone in that by any means, but the point is that we are now a point above West Brom, seven points clear of the relegation zone. We should have a permanent (or at least non-interim) manager in place for next season. And if we can strengthen the squad , if things do happen to fall into place, then we can hopefuly pick up where we left off, as genuine title contenders once again. But that's for next season.

Best people get used to it. You probably forgot there was a DMZ area after jose was sacked and guss was appointed.. that game against sunderland suggested we're more than qualified to play quality football... gus doesn't encourage that but instead doing the opposite and he does it in the league where it's done and dusted, that's where the frustration lies.. It's a shame pep opted for city because we really need his philosophy..
February 7, 201610 yr Good point is he's still unbeaten, but his tactic is really poor in my opinion. When he play Mikel and Matic together, then it simply doesn't work. Mikel is too behind like the 3rd CB and Matic make too many mistakes because he can't play the playmaker role. I also want to see us playing with attacking backs. We have Azpilicueta and Baba Rahman for that, give them a chance to play few games, see how it works. I think Darmian and Borthwick-Jackson showed it today how good is to play with two attacking backs. Drop Ivanovic, he's our biggest trouble in the defence, now without Zouma, he won't get enough backup. I also don't understand why can't we play good attacking football from the beginning of the match and not only when we losing. I think we showed it today that we got great attacking players and we can create fast counter attacks, we should stop that defensive style. We have good players and they have the ability to play some good attacking football. Diego Costa, Hazard, Willian, Bertrand Traore, Oscar.
