January 14, 201610 yr Football is cyclical - you can't expect to be near the top all of the time. Look at us, we were a million miles away from where we need to be but patience and a little realism is needed in the tough times. Neither Chelsea or Man Utd have any God given right to be in the top spots every season.

In fact I would argue that prospective future is looking better than Liverpool's. We need to see how Liverpool will perform once Klopp has a chance to get some players of his own in. January 14, 201610 yr The way I see it: Chelsea is out of CL football unless they win the Champions League. If Chelsea is out of CL football that basically means that we will lose all transfer fights for premiere tested players. You want to upgrade Baba Rahman to Rodriguez (or someone else of similar calibre)? Not happening - if Rodriguez joins anyone it won't be a non-CL side. That means that next season Chelsea requires very shrewd investments and first and foremost premiere youth talent to be brought into the fold. Thats why I think postponing players like RLC, Traore, Rahman or Kenedy from playing is terrible politics. We need to test them before next season, so we know whether they are the types of players that can help Chelsea bounce back next season. Players like Ivanovic, Fabregas, Oscar, Pedro, Remy, Falcao obviously won't.... Not playing the youth NOW could cause Chelsea to remain a mid-table side next season. We need to see how Liverpool will perform once Klopp has a chance to get some players of his own in. We are definitely a million miles away, I didn't mean to type 'were'. Chelsea currently have a better squad than us, as do City and Arsenal. We need a striker, a centre back, and a winger so Martial can play as the no.9. Rooney needs selling as does Phil Jones. As for John Terry, he might be a 'club legend' but his presence is toxic. I know it's not nice to read but I feel he has been behind many of Chelsea's problems as well as the good times. When the 'old boys club' is completely dismantled you will be able to progress. By whilst you have the likes of Costa and Terry running the show in the background, there will always be issues.

January 14, 201610 yr You are right but I have little confidence that Emanolo can buy value high quality young players. Courtois, De Bruyne, Lukaku says otherwise, implementing them into the first team is another matter though.
January 14, 201610 yr Can you give any reasons or evidence to substantiate your view on Terry making things 'toxic'? I could but I think I will end the discussion there. Clubs supporters never take kindly to facts about their 'legends'. It's the same at Man Utd forums when it comes to Giggs, despite the bloke being a bit of a c**t in real life. Terry was a fantastic CB on his day. But let's just say his personality and antics away from the game leave a lot to be desired. No disrespect or offence intended.
January 14, 201610 yr I'm not going to slag off players because it's not going to solve anything. I think the way we play at home is to predictable, we play as if we have two sitting in front of the back four, we break and then we don't have enough bodies if the ball comes into the box. If we build slowly we have plenty of players around but are looking for small gaps for the perfect pass and try to score (like the Gooners previously). Going back to having two in front of the back four, when defending they are supposed to plug gaps between fullbacks and centre halves or between the two centre halves. Also closing down shots, so conceding two goals from outside the box last night didn't really work.

January 14, 201610 yr And no offence taken, but could you point to specific instances this season where Terry's presence has had an adverse impact on the team? Against Leicester on Vardy's goal, he completely missed a simple header away which Zouma thought he had covered.
January 14, 201610 yr Author Right, and I agree he's not looking anywhere near as sharp defensively as he was just last season, but it seemed to me he was referring to what he's done off-field. Edited January 14, 201610 yr by Teritus

But surely all those years when Terry was at his peak with his (alleged) off field 'antics' would have had an adverse affect on the team then? Although it just so happens that was the time when he was in his prime winning trophies with a very settled team.
January 14, 201610 yr I still think we need to play baba, rlc, Kennedy a lot more and give them a real chance to fit in. We certainly mucked up the transfer season. It's on the public record that management were surprised how well terry went last year and clearly there was a big risk of him not making it this year. If anything we've been lucky so far that Costa hasn't been injured. The young guys have to be blooded. Rlc has looked ok when played, let's try him again.
January 15, 201610 yr Just on Tony Gale, 1. Why is he such a c**t? 2. Why does he despise us so much? I know Lamps made a mockery of him on radio about 10 years ago but surely if u had any self respect you wouldnt make it so obvious in the media that you hate a club, I just mute when I hear him and he is always commentating on our streamed games, he's a f**king w**ker, wish he'd just f**k off and do something else with his time, the miserable c**t
January 15, 201610 yr I know some people saying a bit better but, I really thought we were infinitely better on Wednesday night thought we were playing proper football for the first time in a long long time which was refreshing and sort of felt that there 2 goals were just long strikes that(although we should have done better with) would normally be the sort of effort courtouis would just see wide... Thought mikel and fabregas looked very good together, obi did well again and thought cesc had arguably his best game of the season... still room for a lot of improvement but i thought it was a much better performance and also that the ref completely sh*t his pants. Anyone else feel a bit of promise from the performance??

Anyone else feel a bit of promise from the performance?? Defensively i thought we were pretty sh*t to be honest, but going forward i thought we were alright. If the ref had done his job properly and punished West Brom's players for their cynical fouling, i think we would have created a lot more in the second half. What are you supposed to do if you are getting fouled all over the place and the ref refuses to do anything about it ? Yacob should have been sent off twice, there is no doubt about it. It seem's like every game when we are breaking against teams, our players will get pulled back cynically by the opposition defenders and all we get is a freekick close to the half way line. If it was any other league in Europe, these players wouldn't be let off for it, they would be booked, it's incredibly frustrating. It's not just us this is happening to though, the league is full of this sh*t now, it's making Premier League football hard to watch. The quality is terrible right now, every game is scrappy.
January 15, 201610 yr Both teams charged with not controlling players, what's the odds on us being fined more than brom. .
January 15, 201610 yr Both teams charged with not controlling players, what's the odds on us being fined more than brom. . I fail to see how both teams deserve a charge, nothing much happened, apart from a coming together when the ‘referee’ chose to ignore a blatant sending off offence. The scumbag pr*ck James McClean commended him for not being persuaded by players who surrounded him, which really had nothing to do with the decision that the ‘ref’ should have made. The only charge that should be handed out is to the man who was impersonating a referee, the standard of officiating in this league has become so bad that it's laughable. January 16, 201610 yr Can't wait for people to realize Hiddink is a fraud. He's using the exact same Mourinho team. If the issue was the manager, then the team would've been changed by now and it's been a month already. By keeping the same crap Mourinho team shows that players didn't want play for manager. To me this is worse type of treason. The players were the ones that put us in this predicament, and no I will not stand behind a bunch of divas and priimadonnas who decided to stop playing for the club and the fans. I have absolutely no respect for them (except for a couple of players). I'm still angry and it will take a long time before this despicable episode is forgotten. The sooner most of this team are out of my club. the better. Edited January 16, 201610 yr by Moustradamus

How does your theory (because that's all it is) that players don't want to play for the manager, the club and the fans make Hiddink a fraud? We haven't lost so far under Hiddink, most people here see an improvement in our performance, so how is he a fraud? I genuinely don't get your reasoning.
