Romelu Lukaku

Well he scored twenty goals in both of those seasons. Something few strikers have achieved in a Chelsea shirt in the past two decades.

Not sure what the quality of our defence has to do with Costa? You need all areas of the team performing to win titles and Diego did more than his fair share in both title wins to deserve praise, especially for scoring so many key goals for us.

I've been slightly befuddled by downplaying and criticism Costa has come in for since the season ended despite playing in nearly all of our games in a title winning season.

He deserves every bit of criticism he gets. Costa's been a passenger in plenty of games in both title winning seasons. What's worse, he allows his attitude problems spill into the pitch, thus making things difficult for the whole team.

Did he contribute to us winning two titles? Absolutely. Doesn't mean he shouldn't be slagged off when deserves it.

As for Lukaku, I'm not a fan. Wouldn't mind having him as an attacking option, but he wants to be a starter and I have doubts about his ability. Not to mention the ridiculous fee Everton would demand. I could think of other players I'd rather go after if we're willing to spend big.

Costa and Lukaku together I don't think would work. They are too similar and have the same weaknesses. A more mobile player like Morata I could see working with either of them. I'd rather see us at least try Micy with Diego to see what they could do together with decent run of games if we are playing two up top.

Rom and Diego linking up would be like watching 2 teenagers in orthodontic head gear going in for a first kiss

Another man guilty of seemingly being unable to hide his feelings is Everton’s Romelu Lukaku, who, during an interview when on international duty with the Belgium squad, published by DH, was asked if he was interested in returning to Chelsea.

His answer? A wink and a smile, followed by ‘no comment’ and him seemingly shying away from the question, laughing.

The player then went on to say ‘he knew where he wanted to go’ and that his ‘agent was sorting everything out’.

As for staying at Everton? ‘I don’t think so, no’.

Well it's looking more likely I'm hoping we get morata instead, now that Diego seems to be staying as much as I'm not a Lukaku fan he is a better option on the bench than michi, let them fight for their place if Lukaku comes good ok if he doesn't at least we have next year to replace him, albeit that's an expensive experiment

As much as I would like for us to sign Lukaku I just don't see how Conte would incorporate Lukaku & Costa into the team, they are both individuals with big personalities and perform at optimum levels when they get a run of games. Will Conte Sacrifice one of Hazard, Willian & Pedro and go with a 3-4-1-2 by having Hazard playing behind the 2 strikers and Pedro/Willian coming in off the bench.

welcome back rom

Please be Utd, please be Utd, please be Utd...aaaand it's us. To think we were mocking them for paying 28 million, jokes on us. Anything over 50 million should start a revolt.

if we sign him, people need to get behind him and not sh*t on us for signing him. too many people are writing him off before he's even signed which is absurd.

Remember, Man Utd paid nearly 90 million for a player who was let go for free. Say we pay around 60 for Lukaku, it's really only 32 if you consider the 28 Everton paid to us. Hell, we could just say we used the Oscar money. Nothing we do with this transfer will see us ridiculed the way United was over Pogba. Wouldn't bother me if we were either.

If I had to guess I'd say Diego will be off to Atletico in January.

I can see that happening but I doubt it will.. Things were looking so good when he was ready to go China for upwards of 70m :(

I would still like to see Morata.  I am quite indifferent about this.  I don't know how I feel yet.  Lukaku is invisible in big games and only had 3 goals vs. the top 6 last year (2 of which were against Man City's horrid defense). Morata has great UCL experience while Lukaku does not.  I don't write off Lukaku's skill/potential but you have to imagine we would/should be pushing for someone more like Morata...

It's ridiculous, same people probably wrote off Alonso before he kicked a ball for us. Is Lukaku Premier League proven? Yes, is Morata? No, we know it doesn't always work out for players from other leagues, let's actually wait until Luakau kicks a ball for us again to judge him, just my view.
