June 18, 201610 yr I've enjoyed this so much and it's still nil nil. I could watch Ronaldo suffer all night.
June 18, 201610 yr I would hate to be on Ronaldo's team, he's the most selfish player i have ever known. He has make everything about himself, if he was more of a team player, they may actually achieve something. He's a complete twat. Edited June 18, 201610 yr by Scott Harris
June 18, 201610 yr Ronaldo has been dog turd this tournament. Jumped off the sofa with glee when that peno hit the post.
June 18, 201610 yr Got to love Karma, just hope it lasts. Ronaldo appears to be under an Icelandic spell of fire and ice.
June 18, 201610 yr Well that just about makes up Ireland losing and Iceland getting robbed in the earlier matches.
June 18, 201610 yr It would be great if Wales/Bale get out of their group and Ronaldo and Portugal don't.
June 18, 201610 yr Why are the BBC praising Ronaldo ? he doesn't deserve it. He is the reason why they have failed to win their first 2 games, he always shoots instead of taking the better option. If i was Portugal's manager, i would tell him straight that he isn't taking another free kick and i would tell him to stop being so greedy. In a weird way, he is holding Portugal back.
June 18, 201610 yr It would be great if Wales/Bale get out of their group and Ronaldo and Portugal don't. Baele Trumps Ronaldo.
June 18, 201610 yr I really wouldn't have made Ronaldo captain, his team mates would feel even more obliged to pass to him. When JT rallies the troops he probably talks about getting stuck in, fight etc, just seems like Ronaldo would say 'I am the captain, you pass to me'. Maybe a bit more subtle than that but his arrogance for me means he's a poor choice for captain.
June 19, 201610 yr Unlucky? How so? They defended well but otherwise Hungary dominated. Actually they were lucky to get the penalty and then later not concede one. It was just an expression. I didn't even watch the whole game. It's just something you'd say if you were with an Icelandic mate... "Unlucky mate." Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
June 19, 201610 yr It would be great if Wales/Bale get out of their group and Ronaldo and Portugal don't. After Bales trash talk, I'd personally like both sides to fail. :-)

That's Rio Ferdinand for you. It was the same before the game, Shearer gave criticism, Rio defended him.
June 19, 201610 yr As an Ireland fan, I thought belgium would be the tough ask in our group, but watching them play last night (albeit I was slightly, or very, drunk) I'm not too concerned, I could see us carving out a 1-0 against them. A team of individual talent, but no Kompany there to unify them and get them playing as a team. Witsel had a good game for them I thought though, he's wasted in the poxy Russian league. Sweden weren't great, and I thought, in my totally objective and unbiased opinion that we deserved to win that game for sure. the own goal was so soft, and we had the majority of the chances. I still think we have a decent chance of getting out of the group though, judging by how poor Belgium were. It's Italy that I worry about, but we don't have a terrible record against them in the last 20 years or so, 2 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses since 1994. COYBIG! Whish you all the best against Italy, RMCM. This Euro needs also surprises. Keep on singing.
June 19, 201610 yr Think that draw Austria got last night v Portugal was their first point in a major tournament since a 2-2 draw with Northern Ireland in Spain 82 !
June 19, 201610 yr Anyone who thinks he's the best player in the world needs their head checked. Cause his International form is off? I suppose Lewendoski is a sh*t striker cause his form is off in this tournament too.
June 19, 201610 yr Anyone who thinks he's the best player in the world needs their head checked. No, anyone who says that has statistical evidence to back up their opinion. The guy has scored something like 260 goals in about 220-230 games at club level. Highest scoring player ever in the Champions League and just scored over 50 goals last season for the numerous consecutive seasons. To claim he's not one of the best players in the world would be considered an act of lunacy.
June 19, 201610 yr As mentioned above, Lewandowski, Muller, Kane and Ibrahimovic have have been poor. Doesn't make them bad. In other news Chile bet Mexico 7-0.
June 19, 201610 yr Yeah I think the 'not the best player in the world' argument doesn't hold up just because of these past 2 games. It's not like Messi turns up for World Cups is it.

Messi did get the player of the tournament last World Cup but given that was due to who got the most MOTM performances that didn't hold much weight with me. Especially as Messi got a MOTM award for scoring a late goal in one game. Infact Messi looked embarrassed when he received that award aswell.Fact is though you're right, Messi has yet to really do it on the big International stage IMO, doesn't mean he's not considered one of the few contenders for worlds best player.
