August 29, 20169 yr I'll be honest I haven't seen enough of this bloke to form an opinion, which is why I watched last night. It amazes me how many have seen him playing so much for Bolton (9) and Sunderland (16) in the Premier League. His attributes appear to be his left foot and he is quite tall for a full back. I agree he does appear to be a player who would give added depth to our depleted resources. This may or may not be an inspired signing, time will tell. His main criteria is hopefully that he is a Conte signing, my only reservation would be, how fast can he get reacquainted with the speed and power of our league.
August 29, 20169 yr Author he was playing lcb all game sitting deep, never a wing back, maybe at conte's request? i watched the game until about the 60th minute, a no nonsense defender, always looking to provide long balls from the deep ala bonucci so i think that's what makes conte interested, a couple of dribble mishaps in his own half, chievo was horrendous so can't really judge his defensive skillset, all in all nothing really special about him really, overall he's just... meh
August 29, 20169 yr Had a read of some Fiorentina fans' views on him. Let's just say they were not very promising. Oh well, he's still (reasonably) young.

August 29, 20169 yr Last season he got 8 yellows in 31 league games, 28 of those games on the left wing.

August 29, 20169 yr People have been crying out for defensive recruitments for weeks, now we're on the brink of signing someone people are seeming disappointed. I'll reserve judging the lad before I've seen him play but I'm happy to see a new fullback arrive. Gives us a lot more options in defence already.
August 29, 20169 yr Not one bit convinced. Bet you Nathan Ake is atleast at the same level. Are here we are prepared to shell out 25 million for someone i believe will be backup at best. Think it also tells a story there wasn't a single story/report of us being interested in this guy before now with two days of the window left and we have failed to get any of our real targets. He screams an expensive Djilibodji to me. Just to add - i wish the club spent 50 million on John Stones who has been bloody fantastic at City then paying half of that for this guy. Hold on to your horses, nothing's been done yet until a club announcement happens. It wouldn't surprised me one bit if no one is signed come Sept 1.

I actually like the guy from what I remember of games I've seen of him but I would still rather have Ake.

He is definitely not worth anywhere near the price rumored. Not sure why anyone would be excited with this transfer. We could have got RR for less or add a few more and get Fabinho.

We could have got RR for less or add a few more and get Fabinho. Says who we could buy Rodriguez for less? No way do I believe he has a £20m release clause because if he did someone would have come knocking by now. I'll be pleased if this transfer goes through because it will provide much needed depth in defence and give natural width on the left hand side, something lacking in both defence and attack. In a market where a 32 year old Ashley Williams is valued at £12m I don't see how £20m is supposedly over priced for a player who by reports was one of the best in his position in Italy last season? Gets a bit tiresome constantly seeing everything portrayed in a negative light on these boards.
August 29, 20169 yr Problem is 24-28m for a player who might end like Luis and warming the bench just to strengthen the squad is not great. It's not being negative but it's true. Luis left a year later. if his going to be a first team starter then it might end up great business. by the way I see 12m for a 32 yr old Williams as great business. August 29, 20169 yr Now we got problem at left back? we got felipe luiz but since somebody (3 bodies to be exact) feel the urge like there is no tomorrow to accomodate ivanovic in the team then of course we got this problem.. We can get the next to roberto carlos or ashley cole but ivanovic will still play..
August 29, 20169 yr "Just splash the cash, dont be cheap, just buy someone already, board is incompetent" Then when we sign someone "Price is too high, what is our idiot board doing?" Lmao cant win
