If the team from the Everton game is fit i don't see the need to change a winning combination. Important fixture as we have Spurs and City the next two. After that some "easier" fixtures in West Brom, Sunderland, Palace, Bournemouth and Stoke. COYB The Guv'nor has been declraed fit!! https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2203461/chelsea-boost-diego-costa-fit-middlesbrough-groin-injury-ruled-spain-squad/
November 17, 20169 yr The only worry I have with this game is 'Boro have yet to be blowmn away in the league. They've struggled to win games but they've taken a point here or there against very good sides. They've got the 5th best defensive record in the league, their problem has been scoring goals. There's nothing to suggest that the players will take this game lightly as I'm sure Don Conte will drill them to play like their playing a title rival, so hopefully a 2-0 lead at half time will see us over the hill and away with the points with 45mins to go. I'm kind of nervous because of their defensive record but remember what we done to Evertons defensive record but again, take the 'Boro v City game, they literally parked the bus, 1 up top and 10 behind the ball with them lumping it long and aimless for pretty much the entire first half, as long as we're not as wasteful as City were, we should have 60-65% of the ball and a comfortable victory, hopefully.
November 17, 20169 yr Probably sounds a bit stupid but unless Costa and Hazard are both 100% fit I would rather not risk either. If there's even a little niggle for either still I would much rather we play Michy for Costa and Willian in Hazard's place.

The reason i would not agree is the league is so tight 3 points in should win games are a must and because I'd hate to disrupt this momentum we have, we saw what happened in teh cup against west ham, albeit with more changes, those 2 are key key players and it would have to be a real risk of further injury that would keep them out the line-up right now.
November 18, 20169 yr Costa and Hazard are like what Suarez and Sturridge were for the dockers 3 seasons ago. No champions league, no Carling cup, no FA Cup yet, and in this case, no international for one of them. First and third place in goal scorring list. So tell me one reason not to put them on the pitch? You know, when you tryhard to protect someone or something, at the end it will most likely break by itself. This is going to be way harder than incoming Sc**s. First of all, its away game. Secondly - they are one of those team that can park the buss very well considering where and by whom Karanka was taugh. We need to give 100%.
November 18, 20169 yr I hope Costa starts. Him missing would be a big blow. Middleborough are well organized as shown against city. Also hate it that this international break broke our flow and rythm. Hopefully we get right back up on the horse.
November 18, 20169 yr Would definitely start Hazard but would be tempted to throw in Batshuayi for this one. Not only would it give Costa a rest, but Costa has a poor first touch and can be wasteful in tight spaces. With 10 men behind the ball, Costa will struggle to find space. I think how Hazard plays will decide this one.
November 18, 20169 yr I'm buzzing for this game. Worry not my friends - we are beating boro! I can't wait for kick off!!! Seriously wish I could forward time. I can't wait for Contes presser, sleep, wake up and game day! Already looking forward to killing the Spuds and City! I don't fear any team with our current form. Bring it.... We have HAZARD COSTA PEDRO NGOLO MOSES LUIZ MATIC and CONTE!!! Bring whatever in front of us, we'll hammer them!
November 18, 20169 yr Costa doesn't need a rest. He didn't play in the internationals so he's had two whole weeks to rest and recover, and after this game he will have another whole week. Like someone else said we only play one game a week so let's take advantage of that and get as many points as we can. Edited November 18, 20169 yr by Ivanov87
November 18, 20169 yr This is the sort of match that dictates league winners....For me this is a 2 2 ...

Unless they are genuinely injured neither should get rested, if it's minor then well that's what painkillers are for. The last time i can remember a manager voluntary resting our two best players was when Rafa did it against QPR (benching Hazard and Mata) and we all know what happened there.

November 18, 20169 yr He's such a likeable bloke, the antithesis of Mourinho in his second spell, he doesn't get annoyed at stupid questions and just answers honestly without having digs at people. Stupidity to be asking him about rooney, who is essentially a fringe player these days at a rival club, but he handled the question really well. Imagine he's said 'no i don't think it's right for players to get drunk in that way, but he's not my player', the headline would have been 'Scathing Conte Slams Rooney Antics' or some other sh*te.

November 19, 20169 yr Conte is such a breathe of fresh air compared to Mourinho of recent years (I'm a Jose fan), it's just nice to not hear our manager constantly causing controversy. Personally, I'm thinking this game will be a draw and theres no shame in it. Bro have bene playing well against the big boys and will most likely hold out for a 1-1
November 19, 20169 yr with his injury history, his yellow card accumulation situation and the upcoming games, personally think it would be wise not to start costa and it's time to give bats some playing time, he may be bit rusty but i'm confident goals will come from eden anyway
November 19, 20169 yr One day to go,tf.Seems like an age since we played last. Not a fan of international football.Luckily i can remember the 66 World Cup because its been downhill ever since. The way we are playing i am confident that we will be all out for the three points.Give our marvellous away fans plenty to sing about boys ....COME ON YOU BLUES !

That is Middlesbrough and they should be taken seriously. They have already taken points from two title contenders, one which they were the better team and really deserved to win. And we have played 11 league games this season and Costa has started every single one and has not picked up a yellow for ages nor has picked up an injury. We should trust him to do what he does best, like he has been doing for weeks now and either way we got a week's rest anyway. Injury concerns are the least that people should be worrying about when we have no European football.

We've seen this time and again, city rested Aguero and lost points in all those games. I don't like saying "what if" or "we should have" after the game and with points already dropped. Start with the best eleven and after a comfy lead - take out Diego, and not the reverse of starting depleted then chasing it after! This is the EPL. Once opposition sense they can hit you, we all know they will hit you. So please please start the game with the top dogs and keep the opponents scared. City and Arsenal lost points against this team and you suggest we rest our most in form striker! No way!?

We haven't got a busy schedule. Best team every time.
