November 16, 20169 yr Nice piece about Zola http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3940892/Gianfranco-Zola-Chelsea-debut-20-years-ago-s-Italian-genius-remembered-one-Premier-League-s-greatest-imports.html
November 16, 20169 yr Remember watching him on the tv in the early 90's when italian football was on channel 4 all the time, playing for Parma, that italian league was full of superstars then, but to think a few years later we would sign Franco. Of all the success and superstars we have had come through the door in the last 20 years, when I think of Franco he's the one that brings a tear to my eye. Pure class in everything. One final thing, Am I the only one, that when I ever see the number 25 where ever it is, I think of franco?
November 16, 20169 yr One of the finest players ever - in Italy, England and on the whole planet. For 4.3m you could get his older brother today. Edited November 16, 20169 yr by nominator
November 16, 20169 yr I think there's no current Italian pro player that can match what he did in Premier League. Their national team are great together but individually, they're not that talented.
November 17, 20169 yr I'm fairly certain Zola will always be my favourite Chelsea player. We've had some amazing players, especially during the successful years, but Zola was my first footballing idol, and it's something that just doesn't seem to fade. Of course I love Lampard, JT, Drogba etc., but this guy was a magician. On and off the pitch, he was just an absolute champ.

His free kicks were to die for, but technically he was just sublime in general. Hard to believe he was considered a second banana in Italy. It is incredible how Chelsea FC at that time managed to snag someone with his incredible talent. Back then we were just emerging from mid-table obscurity. He deserved to play in a title-winning side but it wasn't to be. A shame.

November 28, 20169 yr Rumour has it that Zola would replace Steve Holland if he leaves for the England assistant job full time. http://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2016/11/28/13757644/gianfranco-zola-steve-holland-chelsea-conte-assistant

He's probably a gooner, like the one who got sacked last season for being a tw*t. Edited November 30, 20169 yr by Floyd25
December 1, 20169 yr Zola was an extraordinary talent. And an excellent person. Unfortunately, the time lapse of his career was the same at his starting period of the best moments of Roberto Baggio, and at his ending of the affermation of Del Piero e Totti. You can have 4 fantastic midfielders in your team, but two n°10 cannot coexist! Today he were the undisputed n°10 of the italian team ... if Conte could have had him in the Euro, we were been probably the winners!
December 1, 20169 yr Just a legend man, I'd love for him to come back as an assistant. What's most incredible is he came over at the age he did and was so good for so long. Not many over 30s could do what he did. It is a shame he never won a PL title but he won so much in his time the with us (2 FA Cups, 1 Cup Winners Cup, 1 League Cup, 1 Super Cup and 1 Community Shield) that he shouldn't have any regrets. That 1997-98 team will always be my favourite Chelsea side. Edited December 1, 20169 yr by Bobbywoodhogan
