Why would Arsenal sell to Citeh and not us?  Why would Sanchez choose Manchester over London when he reportedly likes London?

I could understand LeArse not selling to another EPL club, but if he is available we should be in a really strong position.  Maybe Sanchez wants to work with Pep again, but did that go so well last time?

I thought he was ok with Pep? The one he had problems with was the coach after Pep left?

I think we can afford that if we get him for free in the next window. Save about 40-50mil on the fee and pay that in the 10-12 mil pounds in wages.

Assuming this is actually true then this is just his agent trying to make negotiations impossible with clubs they are not interested in, Bayern was left out of the race because of this. If Alexis wants to stay in London and win trophies we are the only choice.

I don't but into the bs Arse PR is trying to put through, they are all about money and won't miss out on some extra cash to finance Lacazette for example.

I hope you are right, wishful thinking i think though. For whatever reason i dont think we are in for him.

The reported wages that he wants is on par with China money, not feasible for the long haul as it'll create domino effects everywhere. Anything above 300k p/w is too much

He'll get that kind of money, split between wages and signing on fee, if he waits a year then moves on a Bosman. Otherwise he's going to be out of luck I think.

Indeed, this is actually more likely.

Currently City is the only PL team that seems to be openly interested in signing him although I cannot understand why they would need another forward.

With Costa possibly leaving I think it should be us trying to get him but it seems we are not, at least no further rumours flying around about us trying to make this happen.

That being said I doubt this lad will stay at Arsene FC and spend his last year playing EL football.

He and his agent are being unreasonable for a reason, he wants out. If Arsene is not willing to pay they can still say we did not agree so I'm leaving. No one is worth 400k p/w.

His team must be working on the fact that it's cheaper for Arsenal to pony up £400k on a new contract then stump up the cost of a similar quality player...

Exactly.

The agent will confront Arsenal with a reality they are already all too well aware of. Namely that the amortised transfer fee + the wages of a player to replace Sanchez, will come to way more that £400k pw. Further, If Sanchez ran down his contract then moved on a free next summer, his wages plus signing bonus would probably add up to more than the £467k pw that Zlatan's package is said to be worth at United. Indeed that will resonate loudly in the Arsenal boardroom because they been down that road themselves. Because they got Sol Campbell on a free, they were able to pay him a large signing bonus. When that bonus was worked out as a weekly equivalent, and added to his wages, it made him by far the highest paid player in the country at the time.

The wild card in this calculation is the transfer fee Arsenal might pick up for the Chilean. If Wenger thinks he can replace him with a player of similar impact for a lesser fee and lower a wage, then he might bite the bullet and let Sanchez go. In reality though even Wenger might think that's too big an ask. If so, there's every likelihood that economic common sense will win the day and the Gunners will stump up a large signing bonus to keep the player.
