Chelsea vs. Inter Milan (Pre-season) Sat 29 Jul 2017 GMT 12:35

Featured Replies

Felt sorry for Fabregas today. Kept looking up and nobody was trying to spin the defenders and run in behind. Thought our front players were poor today until Musonda came on.

As for the penalty, poor decision but look at our players standing around while Inter's players are all looking for the rebound.

Hopefully Conte has words.

Very frustrating result. I know it's only a friendly but it would still be nice to win, and a loss is made even more painful when it's as a result of horrendous "officiating".

Baffles me how various FA's, UEFA's and FIFA's reactions to shocking refereeing is to punish the players and managers who dare complain. How can they honestly expect the players and managers to respect the officials if the officials are putting in shoddy performances week in and week out?

This thread is an example why I dont visit this site too often anymore.

Its pre-season in Asia. Its humid, the guys train their arses off to get fit again. The motivation is half arsed as its a friendly.

Get a grip people, calling for heads and sh*t? unbelievble

we gotta start showing more faith in young players, there likes of musonda, boga, baker, christensen have just as much right as a few of the seniors to get games. musonda after 15 mins shown more than any of our forward players bar batshuyai in offense.

So hypothetically if we had an actual ref what would the score be?

2-1 if it's a good day. Probably Azpi would be sent off if it had been a really bad day

Nobody forced you to visit.

Let's get back to Blighty...play some closed door games on good pitches with good refs and start the season from there...oh and stuff the Arsenal in the Charity Shield...and Mousanda...welcome to the first team son...

He looked off the pace and lacking in fitness, which is what you would expect for his first game back off his holidays.

Yes which is why I would have kept him on and put him in his natural position. Play him into fitness while also making him more comfortable.

But I'm no manager I'll let our title winning one make the decisions

Get the impression Conte's thrown a few of these games to get his way with the board and get some more signings in?

DISCLAIMER: I am not accusing an Italian of match fixing. They'd NEVER do that...

conte has no impact how the players play. i suppose the formation could have been played with a little for variety. i think it comes down to the players themselves. azpi, moses, alonso, kante, fabregas (to some extent) all off the pace. it is probably nothing more than fitness levels which is the issue. i don't think we can ever understand how much 3-4 weeks of not playing competitive football can affect a player because we don't play football professionally. i am sure it takes more than a couple weeks to get back up to pace.

When we started to try we were dominant. Musonda in particular was excellent and provided the impetus we were missing.

Morata is very smooth. He glides and has great touch. Michy tried hard but he has a long way to go.

The real shame was the lack of time given to Baker on this tour to show his wares. Pasalic did well in his cameo but I'm not even sure Baker got on the pitch.

Morata may well turn out to be a great star for Chelsea. If so he wiill be showing a lot more than he did today. Chelsea were very ponderous and boring in attack. Showed nothing.

Almost prefer Moses on the left. He is happier taking the man on scorn that side.

I WANT HEADS AND I WANT THEM NOW

Referee was poor ruined a very competitive game, not too worried about the result though thought we dominated the second half and promising performances from Musonda and Rudigar.

Morata and Alonso looked a little off the pace Morata understandably but hard to judge him when played on the wing.

agreed. it doesn't make sense to overreact and write us of as not good enough for the season ahead after a couple friendly games. we could use a couple more signings to strengthen a positions, but overall i don't see what's the big concern. we started off slow vs bayern and inter and got punished, but inter got some fortune too with the penalty decision and they gained the momentum. it happens, but it's a damn friendly game. we are more than capable and have the manager to keep the players pushing and motivated. it's a 40-50 game season and lots can happen, and most of all it's a team game and we have the mindset and strength to fight until the end.

To deep, not enough space in the middle, they shut him down comfortably. And as such he offered little else to the game. Surely not reliable enough for a whole season in our midfield. It will be a long season if he does. Still has a part in the squad though, as cover and impact sub.

Disagree, players celebrate the goals, look dejected when losing or conceding, no competitive athlete likes to lose, also the circumstances are the same for all teams, so it's equal those conditions aren't just for chelsea.

Add to that teh season starts in 2 weeks and we are playing a  strong team "pre season" doesn't matter applies to 4 weeks out playing youth, poor pre-season costs you the season like in 15/16, so yea don't panic even first couple of games of the season don't panic, but a good pre season and the winning mentality is important.

Not like he can cross anyway

I did think Musonda looks a player. Bit skinny but seems to have the head for the game and know where the goal is.

Liked him a lot but I don't think he suits the PL sadly

i don't think being skinny means much if you got the skills he has. there are plenty big/strong players who are crap on the ball, i know which i would rather tbh. musonda is quality and finally he gets a damn squad place. he needs to earn that first team place now and i think he's more than capable.

Irrespective of the scoreline, Chelsea were poor today. No creativity in the final third and Batshuayi looked so lethargic. Baffles me that Conte persisted with Batshuayi and Morata up top together (or whatever was happening, I couldn't tell) when Inter were playing so narrow. Morata looked class whenever he got the ball but could never do anything with it. The game was crying out to go back to the system we played last year with the wide players with Morata as the sole centre forward.

Musonda did look sharp though, just worry that the PL will be too fast and physical for him - especially as he looks about 15.

The attack was pedestrian in h1. The wing backs failed to get past their man, there was no clever passing in the midfield to speak of, Batshuayi's couldn't hold the ball and Morata made two good passes the whole game and did absolutely nothing in defense.

Without Hazard we seem to have zero attack. Made worse because no Pedro. Willian almost but in the end didn't deliver tonight.

We hardly had a good chance in h1,,

What it shows is that both costa and hazard make a difference. Costa is hard to replace.

He looks 12 years old, filling out is important in the PL, even for keepers (de gea) let alone out field players. FSW even told torres to bulk up and he started playing a bit better, another example is cuadrado, bags of skill, great in Italy, just floated away when encountering PL players, it matters and quite a lot, they dont need to be tanks but strength is important in this league.
