It sucks that we can't fit Fabregas into this team as a regular starter. His passing is up there with the very best in the game, but his weaknesses are too much of a risk in Conte's formation. We just can't play with a two man midfield with Fabregas in it. It's one simple pass through the midfield and we are in big trouble.

When we have played him further forward in a 3 he has looked dangerous, in a 2 man pivot, never ever ever, you are basically conceding midfield

It's what some of us said last season, against better sides he just cannot play in a 2 man midfield, he is a liability without the ball. 

granted will it is preseason so hopefully we will be ready for the start of the season.

but I still think we lacking reinforcements.

hazard is really a big miss for creativity.

Yup he had his best games last year playing ahead of Kante and Matic. It's where his clever movement and vision is most effective. 

I'm actually of the view that Matic may need to be kept. Bakayoko will take time to come up to speed and I'm not convinced of Fabregas, Hazard and Alonso on that side.

It seems as if Conte is testing out this 3-5-2 system which I believe is what he has gone for most of his career. Can see Fabregas, Kante and Baka all starting in midfield in the PL with Hazard floating however I hope i'm wrong. Chelsea's strength has always been the wide players which we'd lack if we went for 3 in the middle.

Is a shame though because i completely agree with your analysis of Fabregas - he can be the difference sometimes and to not use him effectively is a crime but he can't play in a 2.

Not really sure what we gained from that outing bar Conte proving to the board we are light at present within the squad. We have Hazard and Bakayoko to return though I'd be surprised to see either before mid September, recruits are needed to keep us competitive in the early stage of the season. 

As for the game in all honesty we weren't that good, poor in possession and wide open without the ball.Our attack was toothless. It is pre season, the result matters nowt and returning to a climate more akin with football will help. Inter though did look a yard faster than us today , having played only two days ago,clearly we will need to work on our fitness as well as tactics. The board now need to pull out all the stops and deliver Conte the extra staff he requires.

Think Fabregas is not suited next to Kante.    If fabregas plays we lose the defensive side to our game. Just hope bakayoko is back soon as we need better coverage closing down the oppositions Kante can't be expected to do it alone.

Minus Hazard and Pedro, made a huge difference. Let's hope this game used up 2 of those dodgy decisions we will get in the 'real' season.

Pretty hilarious to see a few angry post aiming at Conte. I mean for god sake it's only a pre-season friendly, it's not like we missed out on a trophy tonight.

Have to say that Alonso and Moses will need to improve if they really going to be a threat this season...and Cahill needs to be benched in favour of Rudiger or Christensen...and Courtois needs to smarten his act up...sorry but Perisic goal should have been saved...bonus today was Mousanda...looks like he'll fit in nicely on the left...

The problem is not only our attack, but defence as well. We concede 5 goals in 2 matches, and in this one Inter was without Icardi and Handanovic. And we was with almost 99% of the player that will start the season.

Hazard and Baka is injured, so we can`t count on them for the start of the season.

We lack class huge time as i said this for long time.

Whitout Hazard our attack su*** hard. We are use to give ball to Hazard and he will do the rest. He can eliminate enemy player, he can pass the ball, he can move the ball, he can hold it and do whatever the *** he wants. He also distributes the game in the enemy half.

Fabregas is too slow, he can`t hold the ball, he can pass it perfectly, but he can not get through with the ball in his feet. He can`t beat opponent in 1 on 1 situation and he is non-existen in defence. They beat our midfielder so easy, they need just 1 or 2 good passes behind it, and it`s all over and here you go very dangerous attack.

Our wing-backs was really bad today. Moses did not make even 1 good cross. Was not good enough in 1 on 1. And Alonso speed is huge problem. Our players make space for him, he recieve long ball and it`s all alone, but by the time he stop the ball and put it infront of him, all enemy defenders are all over him, thats because he is so, so slow.

With fast LWB, we will look so much different and dangerous.

Both Moses and Alonso was very bad defensively today as well.

Kante was not on good level as well, but he was alone in the midfielder.

And if the enemy team pressing us, then the situation will become much worse.

 

We need to add class or we can repeat 2015, or the best will be top 4 finishing and bad result in CL. This team is not strong enough to defend it`s title, and the guilt is on the board.

Once again they act too slow and lose a lot of targets, and Marina negotiations and we lose a lot of top players, that could have arrived.

Again with Mendy/Sandro and Walker we would have been a different team. Such players boost you to the next level.
Good luck beating Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern with starters like Alonso and Moses ....

Lacking class huge time, and also depth. We need 2 world class WB, DM midfielder cover, and top right midfielder and probably third striker option.

One thing that frustrates me is the amount of times we get in the position to put a cross in the box and we end up cutting back and passing it, that being said Moses is about as good a crosser of the ball as Gronkjaer.

Doubt it especially if Cahill is club captain; bad choice IMO, you need someone that is going to be playing more or less every game; Cahill needs to sit on the bench more this season.  The EPL is now all about speed and counter attacking football, something unfortunately Cahill can't handle due to his lack of pace and turning speed. We will see how long Conte puts up with him especially when results don't go our way.

People are right that musonda needs to bulk up, but I wouldn't say he needs to do too much in that regard. Just look at pedro.

Well, after rewatching the game.. Thank you Watch ESPN... Cahill needs to take the bench... Fabregas makes Kante look like an amateur midfielder. Hope bakayoko improves that position which i think he will. I would play Fabregas as center attacker midfielder or just bench him, and let bakayoko and kante dominate the midfield. However, that leaves less room for william, pedro, hazard since it would make sense to play a 3-5-2 instead of a 3-4-3. Like a lot of people have wrote, we need LWB/RWB. FOR THE LOVE OF f**kING GOD NEVER AGAIN PLAY MORATA AS A WINGER AND THEN GO SAYING THAT HE NEEDS TO UP HIS FITNESS, PLAY THE PLAYERS WHERE THEY PLAY THEIR BEST. I hope COnte doesnt repeat MOu's last year where he would play f**king ivanovic every game despite playing like sh*t... I know it is preseason but holy sh*t. PLAY THE f**kING YOUNGSTERS. I sincerely hope Conte knows what he is doing but playing the same 11 as last season wont be enough to win the EPL and go far in the CL.. Okay, rant is over...
