I have to say. Looking at that midfield it's really no wonder we are struggling this season.
There is one top quality player there, but the other three could just have easily played for let's say Leicester and no one would think that was below their level.

I hope Ampadu starts tonight. He showed once again that he can hang with the big boys against Lincoln and he's done well when he's got the chance.

Am I in the unpopular opinion thread? Alonso getting slated. Oh dear. The man has been a gem for us. Take his goals out and we'd be in even bigger sh*t than we already are. Love me some Marcos Alonso.

He does score a lot of goals and people think about the free kicks but for a wingback I don't think he is that great. You need players who can get up and down the pitch, get past players to attack and cross, tbh Alonso doesn't really do a lot within the game then he pops up with a free kick. In Chelsea's formation the wingbacks need to be very good, there a weak part of Chelsea's team and it's one of the reasons I think they should change to a back 4.

Listen, take him out of the team and we'd be a lot less of a threat. He finishes better than our centre forwards, unleashes a free kick like no other, and is a threat in and around the goal. People need to stop talking sh*t about Alonso. This team has weaknesses for sure, but Alonso, Azpi and Andreas have been the bright lights in a somewhat dim season. We looked a little unbalanced without him against Watford. Missed him.

I’m hoping Palmieri can’t make the LWB position his own so we can play Alonso up top

Sounds good to me. At least we'd finish more than what we are doing at the moment. Probably a prolific goal scorer as a kid. 

Now we have Palmieri we could feasibly make a 4-4-1-1 work:

I have a bad feeling.
Worried Sturridge and Jay Rodriguez will trouble us.
They also have a solid midfield with Barry, Krychowiak and Brunt that can keep up with ours on their day.

Definitly a must win but there is just that feeling that the end of Conte is here and the players know it and wouldn't mind.
