This is sport its competitive. Far from being non supportive, fans like me have been extra supportive. We're the ones saying that players from our academies who have worked like mad shouldn't be farmed to clubs like Palace if some of the first teamers are not performing and are preventing them from reaching their potential here.

Contract is up next season. So, I would think there is a ton of incentive for him to perform this year.

He's always had incentive to perform at the highest level. Probably more than most given the expectation and hopes for him back home.

What he doesn't have is the talent to match those expectations.

Everyone wants Pulisic to do well but the honest truth is he was signed solely due to his nationality and the only reason he's still here going into his 4th season at the club and his 8th as a senior pro despite never having a good season in his career is the commerical hype surrounding him that again exists solely due to his nationality.

We'd all love Puli to perform but is he really worth a slot in a 25 man premier league squad based on his what he's shown on the pitch so far?

Not sure why you’ve bumped the thread Tim, been on the sauce tonight?  Pulisic is a decent young player who is highly inconsistent. He has a tendency to try to overplay, possibly comes from the expectations of him within his national team by his supporters. Can he do a job for us? Yes,but needs to produce more when picked otherwise he will always be a bit part player at a top club. Question is would you prefer him to be the star of Southampton or part of a successful team?

No sauce tonight. Keto has me imbibing on H2O. As far as him overplaying being a result of his national team expectations - I don't think it has anything to do with the national team - he doesn't  need to carry the US, as Weston McKennie, Gio Reyna,  Brenden Aaronson, and Timothy Weah are all talented and take the pressure off him. Pulisic is criticized more than any other player on Chelsea and, while some of it may be warranted, some is not. And Americans see others who have underachieved on Chelsea - pretty much every attacking player on Chelsea the last two seasons - not put under the microscope as much. Most Americans just want him playing, to be brutally honest with you - most could care less where. I happen to believe he could have his breakout season this year for Chelsea, if given the opportunity. We will see. I hope he does - I have an affinity for this forum and don't want to start new again elsewhere;)

I stand corrected - but this year is still vitally important for Pulisic to perform in, as most clubs make moves a year in advance of contracts ending to avoid getting nothing for a player leaving.

Hi Tim. Personally, I can see Pulisic is a good player. Bags of technical ability, is a goal threat, (though did miss some sitters last season), and can dribble. However, he is another lightweight player who sometimes looks like he struggles with the sheer pace and physicality of the EPL. He isn't alone. We have a few of those.

Agreed. Why Chelsea doesn't have him on a program to gain upper body mass is beyond me. Perhaps they think it will effect his quickness. 

When we still have Werner and CHO in the squad I see no problem with having Pulisic too.

Off the bench he can be the difference at times and win us matches.

Just doubt his physical stamina in the EPL for 90 mins.

Nope. I think it's quite clear from his entire 7 year career he has no business being part of a premier league squad.

Not talented enough to start games.

Not reliable enough or fit enough to be someone you can depend on from the bench.

I'd be very surprised not to see him back home in the MLS within 5 years.

That was the only reason we signed him in the 1st place.

I see him as a good squad player but ideally not a regular starter unless he improves. However as others have pointed out his current competition is probably CHO and Werner, neither of whom have convinced. So unless we sign another first choice winger he probably still has a decent chance of getting regular starts this season. He may yet fulfil some of his potential here, but I feel as though he will probably move on to another club in the next year or 2.
