Try it for over 50  seasons @Scott Harris.  We've all been a bit spoilt by success and expectations, and we seem to have lost sight of the fact that football, as most things, is cyclical, sh*t comes around, it goes around.  We were great, top of the world, now, not so much. It''s all a bit pants at the moment, but at least we have won a championship in the era of colour televison, not like the Spuds, we've won the Premiership, not like the Dippers, we've won the Champions League, not like the Arse, and we are no longer the most racist team in London, not like the 'Wall.

It will get better.  Or it won't.  Either way, it will be what it will be.

Try telling Notts Forest or Villa or Sunderland fans how sh*t it is being consistently in the top few of the premier league and playing in Europe every year.

Seriously, though, if you know any Leeds fans, remind then that they are dogsh*te and deserve to be in the second division and be sure to tell them that we are having a laugh.

It's very hard to manage expectations at the moment. One minute we are beating Tottenham and I think we are starting to turn things around and then I see performances like yesterday which brings me straight back to thinking the players just don't care. I don't really know what I should be expecting and I'm changing my views on things by the game.

Maybe the best way to approach the rest of the season is to just take it as it comes, a whatever will be will be type of mentality. I struggle to get motivated for the game with that type of mentality though. I want to view things with a goal in mind, something to aim for. It doesn't need to be a trophy, I just want to see the players giving their all for the club and achieving the most they are capable of achieving. If we finish 5th and trophyless but I see effort and the players have given everything they can give, then I can accept it and move on. I don't think we are seeing that though which is why I end up ranting in the match day threads

I hope I am wrong but I think Yorkley is on to something here. Football is cyclical and it feels like we may be coming to the end of an era.  3 of the last 4 seasons have been pretty poor by our own high standards (obviously they would still seem like damn good seasons when viewed from the early 90's) and it feels like this is the new pattern. I think this is mostly down to a lack of good/clear direction from the board. Now they find themselves in a position where they either give the latest strategy a longer term chance to turn things around, or start again with something totally new. If they choose the latter option we could well find ourselves stuck in this cycle with worse to come as we seem to be lacking leaders on the field these days too. Of course if we stick with Sarri there are no guarantees that his system will ever work either.

I think I would be more confident in the direction if the decisions were being made by somebody with proven football knowledge (e.g Ballack). But I have very little faith in the board beyond their financial qualifications so I think we may need to be prepared for more averageness in the years ahead.

Everything that he said, is how I saw it. First half missed opportunities, second half stopped playing and got destroyed and nobody understands why.

The players are mentally weak as f**k that's the only conclusion I can come to.

I don't understand how is Azpi such a bad captain, he is so good as a hard worker for all this time, but as a captain totally not present. I would really want to see Rudiger as the captain now.

We are definitely missing a good leader on the field. Cahill is missed in that capacity and JT more so.

Agree, and would add that more than one is needed. When we went 1-0 down not one of our senior more experienced players tried to lift the team.

Perhaps its time to get JT back in the fold. Arsenal had Steve Bould come back and organise their defense. JT's presence in the dressing room would wake a few of the players up.

Zola is a big favourite and his command of the English language is a plus for Sarri but I sometimes think he is too nice a fella. We need a bulldog in the dressing room. We could do with a couple in the team. If somehow Sarri could use JT's knowledge of organising a defense.

I just want it all really.

Lampard?

PS. This post is very much tongue in cheek as I get desperate after really bad results so please don't shoot me.

Talking about having real leaders, it would be good to have JT and Wisey involved. Anymore performances like last night and as the players stroll back into the dressing room JT could punch them in the face and Wisey could punch them in the bollocks.

That might be the motivation Sarri is looking for.

Because Azpi leads by example and right now we need a leader who leads by example and then swings a big f**king stick when people don't follow that example.  I won't comment on the size of Dave's stick, but he isn't swinging it as much as it needs to be swung in these moments.

Two of the usual scapegoats, Alonso and Morata, didn't play last night and we turn in one of the worst performances in recent times. No individual, player or manager, can be the reason for an abysmal showing like this one. There is something else amiss but don't ask me what it is!
