March 2, 20224 yr The 'toxic' brand article on Sky Sports is very weird and highly suggestive. You'd think we we're owned by Vladimir Putin himself. I'm glad I stopped subscribing to their services.

Okay, yeah they are wide of the mark as there has been massive bids for the club as recent as last week.
March 2, 20224 yr I think Roman will just be glad to get his money back. If I am correct, he’s put £1.5bn plus the money he bought it for, £400m = £2bn. To walk away with £500m isn’t too bad given the circumstances. That said, I’m sure that’s oversimplifying it and it’s way more complex than that
March 2, 20224 yr I’m sure selling the club will hurt Roman. At least Roman can walk away knowing that he won it all - in under 20 years. Great achievement. Edited March 2, 20224 yr by JM7
March 2, 20224 yr American owners haven't done too bad at Liverpool in recent years. The thing is, the club has also made some sh*t decisions when it came to signings and not backing most managers. We could have won more if not for poor board decisions. I'm guessing Roman signed off on all those decisions.
March 2, 20224 yr Ah this is so rubbish, I still think whoever the next owners are we will have success, but I’m just gutted that Roman is leaving. The man well and truly plucked us out of near extinction and turned us into one of the biggest clubs in the world, everyone associated with the club should be eternally grateful for what he’s done for us.

January was the only window where they bought Dias with no outgoing which probably means a quiet summer for them. We can forget about the 100-200M windows that have been spoiling us. Seriously its looking like an end of an era for RA, at least he can ride of into the Russian sunset singing "I won it all, I won it all!" P.S. Despicable what his pal Pooh-tin is now doing in The Ukraine randomly bombing civilian areas, lbh IF RA is in deep with The Kremlin still we dont and out of basic human decency cant want him as our club's owner anymore (sadly). Shyte times all round. While I fundamentally agree with the bolder part, tell me which billionaire owner(s) of a PL club are not in deep sh*t regarding war and human rights. UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia are all renown for bombing Yemen (nobody cares about that country btw), beheading and stoning, hanging, and breaking basic human rights in the case of their women, they financed al-qaeda, the talibans and other terrorists. The US and the UK brought Iraq and Afghanistan to the medieval times with their bombs, after lying their own countries to take them to an endless war, and they bomb, invade and finance groups in Central and South America. And nobody in our parliament says anything. Bring the Russian owner to the ground but let the Arab owners in peace as if they were not massively breaking basic human rights and funding wars. Hypocrites.

In which case we’ll have to make better use of the academy! Which has to be infinitely preferable to the way we’ve been spunking massive amounts of dosh on the likes of Lukaku and Werner, going back to Torres and beyond. An efficient scouting system wouldn’t hurt either.

Also, Roman has been investing a LOT in our academy which is why it is so good. We won't be able to do that henceforth. I agree that we need an efficient scouting system though but that will take time.

Hypocrites. I am sure if you dig in even slightly, most if not all of the billionaire football club owners have dodgy connections with rogue states. Football sold its soul a long time ago. The FA had no qualms about letting Saudi-backed group take over Newcastle despite the obvious connections to human rights abuse.
March 2, 20224 yr Private equity consortiums would probably be the worst as they are driven to get profits or yield as they call it. I thought a while back an Indian billionaire might buy as they could probably settle and evade sanctions. Yet have heard nothing to suggest anything like that.

March 2, 20224 yr As reported by @nicola_imfeld Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss is working with the American billionaire and part-owner of the LA Dodgers Todd Boehly on a bid to buy Chelsea. Official offer for the club expected to be made soon #cfc Tweeted by Matt Law
March 2, 20224 yr Couple of other tweets: - Abramovich wants to encourage bidding war as price drops "by the day" - Wyss's interest is serious, + two other parties looking - rare chance to buy a bluechip sport "franchise" at a knock-down price, though sanctions complicate “I'm told that American businessman Todd Boehly is behind the consortium with Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss. The two have already teamed up in the past. For example, at the holding company Eldridge Industries, which Boehly founded in 2015. #Chelsea #Abramovich”

However, that there was interest from Boehly and Walter just three years ago indicates that an American consortium buying the club is a strong possibility. All is not lost yet. Not by a long way.
