Bit ironic his last trophy could be the one that officially made us ‘the best club in the world’.

Yea h it felt complete then, this just makes the end quick.

I was on the forum when it happened, i wish we still had those posts, but i can remember thinking it wasn't that much of a big deal, the stupid amounts of spending on players had not started by then, looking back that was the point it all changed, but we didnt see it coming at all.

No not at all. Those I spoke to in person, was not online then, felt like me, concerned as to what it meant and disappointed to see Ken moving on to a role of little influence.

It's over...

What a wonderful statement. Thank you for everything Roman!

I would like to address the speculation in media over the past few days in relation to my ownership of Chelsea FC. As I have stated before, I have always taken decisions with the Club’s best interest at heart. In the current situation, I have therefore taken the decision to sell the Club, as I believe this is in the best interest of the Club, the fans, the employees, as well as the Club’s sponsors and partners.

The sale of the Club will not be fast-tracked but will follow due process. I will not be asking for any loans to be repaid. This has never been about business nor money for me, but about pure passion for the game and Club. Moreover, I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine. This includes providing critical funds towards the urgent and immediate needs of victims, as well as supporting the long-term work of recovery.

Please know that this has been an incredibly difficult decision to make, and it pains me to part with the Club in this manner. However, I do believe this is in the best interest of the Club.

I hope that I will be able to visit Stamford Bridge one last time to say goodbye to all of you in person. It has been a privilege of a lifetime to be part of Chelsea FC and I am proud of all our joint achievements. Chelsea Football Club and its supporters will always be in my heart.

Thank you,

Roman

My only hope is that the new owners care about the club. I don't expect them to eat losses and all that, but I hope this club isn't turned into a for profit only club with no real desire anything than maximizing profits.

So sad really.

I hope whoever comes in has the same passion as Roman. I loved how he would ensure that 2nd best wasn’t good enough with his harsh but successful turn over of coaches.

I believe that is impossible.

What I don't understand from that statement is he mentioned the net proceeds will go to a charity for Ukrainian war victims, Which in essence means he's on the Ukrainian side as he hasn't turned a blind eye to the actual war. So are we now freezing assets of Russians who don't stand with Putin also? Hilarious considering the Saudi's have so much real estate in Central London and just a few weeks back launched airstrikes into Yemen, All a bit weird.

In the short term, but in the long term he could be quids in. Buy up the rouble when it is essentially junk, and in a few years time, when the economy stabilizes, he makes 2x, 3x, 15x whatever his money back.

Pretty sure Roman wont do anything silly with his money - well, other than spending a fortune on Chelsea 🙂

Or bur tottingham

He has never indicated that he is on any side. The media has judged him based on assumptions, and many politicians seem to have happily jumped on that bandwagon. Pretty clear from his statement that Roman has always been a football fan and his investment in Chelsea was never about making money. If it had been he would have made very different decisions over the years.
