Posted September 16, 20196 yr 5 goals, all scored by the young guns, with more yet to return. Great time to be a fan isn't it? We have gone from rival fans slating us and saying 'you haven't had an academy player since John Terry!', to a solid number of academy guys finally making their way in and scoring goals! I know to score 5 is unusual most weeks, but for them all to be scored by the young guys is just something special. Utd fans fawn over Rashford, yet Tammy only needs 3 more goals to equal his best ever season! We wont challenge for the league this year, but how nice is it to see this happening at Chelsea, finally!
September 16, 20196 yr It’s quite wonderful. We’ve all dreamt of youngsters coming up through the academy and become starters for us for over a decade now and we ought to really enjoy it now that several have managed that step up.
September 16, 20196 yr We have 11 goals this season, all scored by 21yo or under. Tammy 7 Mount 3 Tomori 1 On transfermarket.com they have the Alps next to their names, its the players market value. Masons has trebled from the start of the season to now.
September 16, 20196 yr What I’ve found interesting is the neutral’s opinion of us is so much higher now compared to previous seasons. Long may this continue - there’s a lot of talk about us having an enormous transfer kitty next year but I’d rather we trousered it, as much as possible, and carried on down the road we are following.
September 16, 20196 yr There will be a lot of pundits very curious to see how we do this season with a young British Manager and a transfer ban meaning we need to play the younger players from the academy or that were on loan. This buys us some goodwill especially if we do well as I think so many were thinking how can this go on with each club trying to outdo the other in terms of how much they would pay for a good player. It might be a blip or it might be the start of an interesting change.............

Couldn't agree more with regards next season and any possible signings. I'd like to see one huge, headline signing, then put the rest back into a nice little ISA or something, for a rainy day. It must be very heartening for the current Cobham crop to see that it can be done as long as you are a/ good enough, and b/ prepared to put the work in to get there This season could be the catalyst for Cobhams success for the foreseeable future, here's hoping.
September 16, 20196 yr I am 100% enjoying this season so far a lot more than I did last season under Sarri. Sure, last season we still had Hazard who had a brilliant farewell season and was a joy to watch. But other than that, I am getting so much more from watching this Lamps era unfold. I don't expect us to win anything or even finish top 4 but it's so refreshing to see players who WANT to play for Chelsea and are desperate to wear the blue shirt and prove themselves worthy. I know every team plays to win and we would all like to have success and win trophies every season but sometimes you have to look past that and try and build something and I sincerely hope that is allowed to happen. City getting beat by Norwich and Arsenal being given a football lesson in the second half by mighty Watford, shows the top sides won't get it all their own way and you cannot keep buying success - at some point you need a bit more than that, which is why I think all genuine Chelsea Supporters will enjoy this season, almost regardless of the outcome.
September 16, 20196 yr It's a nice time right now but it'll be an up and down season, so if there's a bad result against Liverpool, the negativity will be back again from some fans. For myself, I've written it off as a season to sit back and enjoy watching the youngsters play and grow whatever the position is at the end.
September 17, 20196 yr I'm enjoying this season so bloody much. I'm finding it so exciting seeing how we're going to perform every week with Mount, Tammy and Tomori in the team - and it's going to get even better when CHO, Reece James and Loftus-Cheek are back and fully fit. I generally celebrate like a nutter (to the horror of my girlfriend) every time Chelsea score, but it feels even sweeter when one of the academy boys bags a goal. Tammy and Mount have been excellent and Tomori has really surprised me - he is very good on the ball and rapid! I honestly don't think we're that far away from challenging on all fronts - that victory against Wolves should give us a huge amount of belief as we all know how good they've been at home (especially against the top 6). We also played well away at Norwich who have just beaten City at home. It's true that we've struggled a bit at the back this season, but we've been without 2 of our best defensive players in Rudiger and Kante - I also think Reece James will come in and be a star. It really is a great time to be a blue at the moment, I'm loving it! With an inexperienced squad we're bound to have some poor results throughout the season. I just hope that our fans can show some patience because we have the potential to build something very special over the next few years.

Remember how we all felt about JT and imagine having a team with 3 or 4 JTs. We have had a terrific trophy run over the last 14 years and now we have a completely new era approaching. I'm happy if we blood a few quality youngsters into the team this season and avoid relegation. I don't expect we'll finish in the bottom half but to have so many good young players and manager lets us all dream that little bit more.
September 17, 20196 yr With the CL back, transfer money from Morata, Hazard, next season we should have, and i hate saying it, a war chest of money. I'd prefer if it was used to finally redevelop the Bridge, the team as it stands is the youngest its been for a long time and not only that, the youngsters are pretty decent. There is no better time to spend money on the Bridge than right now with players that will be only entering their prime by the time the updated Bridge would be ready for nearly 60k fans.

I'm going to enjoy the season, no matter what. But the difference on this forum after a win, compared with after a defeat is crazy. If we went on a run of 3 or 4 defeats, the internet fans will be calling for change.

I was gutted that Tammy didn't make the squad again Bulgaria and Kosovo but I tell you what if he doesn't make the next one and Rashford does it'll be criminal. Lads on fire at the moment. Anyone who knows Chelsea and has watched him come through knows what a top quality player he is, but Frank has shown him that belief and said you deserve to be playing at this level and boy is he showing it.

Thing is, he isnt competing with Rashford in the England squad he is competing with Kane, Rashford tends to play out left when he plays for England and (I am happy to be corrected here) but Tammy doesnt seem to have that he is a proper CF rather than a front 3 player. As much as it pains me to say at the moment in a straight choice between Tams and Kane, Kane wins. This could change of course.
September 17, 20196 yr Yeah actually I'll take your point there, Tammy can't do that wide left business. I don't think Rashford should be doing it either but that's another topic entirely ? Kane for England is phenomenal so until he starts dropping off the pace, Tammy and rest of them will have to wait in line. I at least think he should be taking Wilson's place in there, despite two goals the other day for Bournemouth does anybody honestly think he'd be the guy to come off the bench and get England goals? I think Tam would give Gareth a real alternative option up front. I think Gareth is smart enough to know that he needs to include him in the next squad, Mason got in there on merit and if he's going to keep to that same principle, then Tammy will be in there too.

Tammy for me would probably be better going to play for Nigeria as you would think he would be their first choice. Like you have recognised he will always be second to Kane in the near future for England. If he did plump for England that would be better for us as no disappearing act in January to play in the African cup.

That generation of African players plying their trade at Chelsea was incredible, so many amazing footballers but corr dear those Januarys used to be a struggle without them. Especially Kalou.......... ?

September 18, 20196 yr Personally I don't care if a player is from Ghana, Island, France or England. I care about the effort. However it is great to see these young boys come through our academy. It speaks volumes of the academy and the work. That is Chelsea. The basis of the club is in shape. Probably the best shape in the country of academies (at least it has been for years). We always need to buy Core players who are in peak age from somewhere else as do all top clubs. What I love is we are seeing core players coming from our academy in some volumes. CB, AMF, CF, LB who can all be our starters for years. This is very exciting.
