Posted February 14, 20205 yr People have been talking about signing Sancho, but he's going to cost £100m+. Add to him, I think we need to upgrade GK, LB, CB and another striker. We recently sold: Hazard - £90m Courtois - £31m Morata - £48m Ola aina - £9m Kalas - £8m Luiz - £7.8m M.Hector - £5m Omeruo - £4m The players we can most realistically sell: Kepa Moses Zappacosta Pedro Willian Alonso Batshuayi Giroud Baba Rahman Bakayoko Kenedy Piazon Drinkwater Potential unpopular sales: Kante Jorginho Thoughts?
February 14, 20205 yr Nobody from the PL comes close to us in terms of profit from selling players. We have 3 wingers for next season ( Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech ) and we will most likely re-sign Boga for a small fee. For the summer we need a LB, ST and possibly GK if Kepa doesn't step up before the season ends. We have 150m for those 2-3 positions, it will be enough.
February 14, 20205 yr Don't think we need to sell anyone to raise funds, just to clear space. 25 minutes ago, enigma said: People have been talking about signing Sancho, but he's going to cost £100m+. February 14, 20205 yr We most certainly do not need many outgoing sales to make some important signings this summer. We’re already sitting at a huge profit and, as I posted in another thread, can easily bring in another £150m+ just from collecting the fee for Morata and selling Zappacosta, Barkley, Batshuayi, Alonso, Bakayoko, and a few of the loan army. Here’s the deal: with just the Morata and Hazard money (upwards of £186m, £56m total for Morata and up to £130m if add ons are met in the Hazard sale, and a minimum of £146m if no add ons are met) it essentially cancels out the purchase of Ziyech and the potential purchase of Sancho, if we assume ~£37m for Ziyech and ~£120m for Sancho. So, let’s set aside that money. We still have a huge net profit from last summer and could still have upwards of £100m in fringe/loan army player sales this summer (that’s not counting the Morata money), not to mention a large amount of wages likely coming off the books with the expiring contracts of Willian, Giroud, and Pedro. The bottom line is that our transfer budget is as far into the black as it’s been since the early Roman days and we won’t have to sell anyone important to ensure it.
February 14, 20205 yr There’s a rumour going around that @Valerie is selling her body to raise funds. She’s currently running at a loss.

February 17, 20205 yr Very good thread! we will be able to make at least another 150m in the summer as we are getting the morata fee (50m odd) and if we are to sell a few more players players we have out on loan like Bakayoko, Drinkwater etc we can recoup a lot more. On our first team we can potentially sell Kepa and Kante which would fetch large fees, then Alonso, Barkley, Batshuayi etc, for some smaller yet still good fees. Willian, Pedro and Giroud will leave for free and free up wage bills. add this to the transfer budget of the last 2 windows which we didnt get a chance to use really, and we can easily afford even a player like Sancho who is going to be 100m+ Buy a new LB like Telles, a new CB like Koulibaly, Skrinier or Romagnoli and a new striker like Martinez or Werner and we will have a great squad next season. We just need 4 or 5 top signings, and sell around 10-15 players in total (including loan players) and the squad quality will be great.
February 24, 20205 yr Made a nice list of everyone we could potentially sell in the summer: First team: Alonso - 25 Bats - 20 Christensen - 35 Barkley - 20 Zouma - 30 Total: 120m Current Loanees: Bakayoko - 30 Moses - 10 Zappa - 15 Rahman - 5 Kenedy - 10 Piazon - 1 Drinkwater - 5 Pasalic - 12.5 Miazga - 5 Baker - 5 Morata - 56.5 (with loan fee as someone pointed out earlier) Nathan - 1 Brown - 3 Total: 159m That is almost 300m from selling fringe players. Add Willian, Pedro and Giroud to that list who will likely leave for free, but the wage bill lowers by a big amount. Christensen has been pretty good though recently, but you could easily swap him out for Rudiger who will fetch a similar fee. We've already spent 35m on Ziyech, but add Telles for 40m, Sancho for 110m, Werner/Icardi for 60m and Skriniar for 80m and we truly have improved the overall quality of the squad tenfold with our net spend still being very small. February 25, 20205 yr I do love the world of Fantasy Football, where you can just look at top players, snap your fingers, wave your wad and there they are, all the while having all your "deadwood" snapped up at top, top prices by other, more menial clubs.
February 25, 20205 yr We have 170m in profit, apart from future player sales. 120m on Sancho 50m on Hazard Job done!

Its not about snapping fingers and waving the wad, its about trying to make a deal with players who seem potentially available? Players like Sancho, Telles etc.. Are in the transfer rumour mill with clubs trying to buy them. A lot of Chelsea players both in the first team, and out on loan are wanted by other clubs, it's not too hard to sell them. Players like Alonso, Christensen etc etc are sought after by other clubs. Not quite sure what point you are trying to make, but its a very moot one.
February 25, 20205 yr I'd guess some of our recent transfer profit is already spoken for in offsetting last year's rather large overall loss, so I think we'll actually have a lot less to spend than people think.

Not quite sure what point you are trying to make, but its a very moot one. Depends on who you're trying to move. Quite often it's a problem of wages that makes it difficult for a top club to sell players they have no use for. The advantage of offering a player a much higher wage packet when buying him becomes a big obstacle when you decide to sell, especially if said player's coming off a poor season and his value has significantly decreased. Take someone like Drinkwater, for example. DD is near impossible to move, because he's on good wages and is not exactly in high demand for a number of reasons. Unless he takes a pay cut and we sell him for a very small fee, we're stuck with him until his contract is up..

Fair point, but I think quite a lot of our players are actually fairly easy to sell, drinkwater seems like one of the ones who will be difficult to get rid of until hi contract is up, but most the others shouldnt be overly difficult imo

To be fair Marina can seemingly get blood out of a stone! Maybe if she snaps her fingers during negotiations that’s when Big Vlad and Boris appear out the shadows and threaten escort her oppo to the Thames with a pair of cement shoes?
