Dave doesn’t start our opening game for the first time in God knows. Jorginho doesn’t have a great record with the armband either.

I won't be surprised if Thiago gets the armband once he is settled in.

This is exactly why I left the Chelsea Facebook page and started looking for something else before I happily stumbled across this website ?

I love an argument on here but the standard of Chelsea fan is miles better than any other platform

RLC really needs to play well today and get himself going. Fear he could potentially fall far down the pecking-order if he doesn't find some form again.

Or could be Frank putting him in the shop window to try to generate funds for Rice

Meltdown on twitter because Mount starts, it's f**king embarrassing.

Cannot understand how a player like him at that age isn't regarded higher. The guy is quality.

I agree....Mount brings so much. Not just about goals and assists.

All this build up of excitement is going to hurt twice as much if it's the same old story of poor defending and every shot going in like last season. Kind of dreading it a bit..

Hard to imagine us keeping a clean sheet based on what we have seen from that defense last season. Hopefully we can outscore Brighton. If we get our noses in front early like in the friendly lets hope we don't sit back on it.

Disappointed we are playing 4-3-3 wanted to see 4-2-3-1.

Expect Chelsea to win by a single goal.

We might be

That never happens in real life

I just get annoyed of the constant criticism and negativity on social media. Even if Mason was to score a hayrick in a 9-0 victory over Liverpool you still get all the "why does Lampard keeping picking mount, it's because he's English" and all that rubbish. The amount of times you see stupid comments about the nationality of Lampard's choices is unbelievable. Bet you'll find it's all the same people complaining about Chelsea not promoting the youth team a couple of years ago.

It seems weird to leave out the most experienced defender in an already very VERY fragile defence. I can only think that Azpilicueta isn't up to speed yet after picking up that injury in the final.

These people can't be watching Mount close enough. Yes, on the ball he still has a lot of work to do before he becomes a top player, but he so often sets the tempo for us with his pressing.

I honestly dont get why lamps loves Christensen so much. He is sooo weak and highly overated. Luckily for us Brighton dont have physical strikers but they will still be a threat when it comes to set pieces with their 3 big centre backs. Thankfully Ruben can add some height to our team during set pieces

I agree. On SSN tonight WHU apparently looking for defenders. Surely a Christensen - Rice deal would be possible

It’s not critical to point out that, in the best transfer window in years, we have Christiansen and Kepa starting game 1.

The worst defence in top 4 history is starting again. That’s concerning.

I hope our attack obliterates this mob.

Is Pulisic still injured? Not even on the bench, that's frustrating.

Yes mate, Lamps said he's pretty much there but with the injury but wasn't sure on fitness. And said it was going to be a last minute assesment. I guess he's not quite fit enough and lamps doesn't want to risk putting him out for another couple of months

I don't think Christensen would be up for that. He's already proven himself abroad, so if he was to ever leave, he would probably go play in a different country.

Interesting on RLC.  He must be training well!  Get slammed for this, but not a fan of RLC as I don't think he actually delivers anything on the pitch (the assist vs. Palace is all I remember).  I hope I'm wrong today though!

No slamming here. I really like him and desperately want him to catch fire but he just neverscseems to get going. I'd even be up for him trying his luck up top as well as he has a great touch, height, presence and he can move when needed

Is there anyone on Brightons team who hasn't scored for a while, our defense is amazing at awarding goals to non entities

They might reanimate the corpse of Glenn Murray for this one!

Shame we are missing a few new signings, but I'm excited to see Havertz and Werner play. Havertz especially. It will be interesting to see how he copes with the archetypal English team.

I guess we will see how much of an impact  the defensive coach have made tonight. I know it’s still early days but even a slight improvement would be very promising.
