November 25, 20205 yr RIP Maradona An absolute legend on & off the pitch, Football has lost one of its best ever. Edited November 25, 20205 yr by Imran_CFC
November 25, 20205 yr Shocking news considering he had just completed a successful brain surgery, you'd have thought that the hard times were over. RIP
November 25, 20205 yr Absolute genius on the pitch. Labelled for his blatant handball against England though possibly scored the best ever world cup goal in the same match. I queued up all night for a ticket for the ManU v Barcelona match in 1984 to see him, only for him to have an average match on the night though he came close to scoring in the final minutes if I remember right. RIP Diego...possibly the greatest of all time.
November 25, 20205 yr To me the second best player of all time after Pele himself. Unforgettable player, no matter where he went everyone were an awe just by watching him warming up with the ball. RIP Diego. This card/sticker used to be valued more than all others combined.
November 25, 20205 yr A footballing genius. Probably the very definition of a one man team, he was that good! What he done at Napoli will probably be never repeated. A sad day for football. R.I.P Diego

November 25, 20205 yr I love that video of him warming up against Munich, the epitome of carefree. Couldn't see Messi and Ronaldo doing that.

November 25, 20205 yr RIP. Here for a good time not a long time could have been his motto, so not overly surprising news.
November 25, 20205 yr Reports say that Napoli will officially rename their stadium to Diego Armando Maradona, the lights will be turned on for the whole night as well

I am of that generation and to be honest the man was a football genius. I am sure if Paul Gascoigne had done the same thing at Italia 90 and gotten away with it England football fans would have applauded his cunning and creativity. Yes he cheated but for f**ks sake what kind of sh*t referee was officiating that day, what inept linesman failed to see it. His second goal against England showed a real gulf in class. I’ve moved on and my only regret about him was I never saw him play in the flesh.
November 25, 20205 yr With Germany, Argentina are England’s greatest rivals, so I suppose I should hate him, but have to say his football ability you can only admire, remember settling down on that Sunday evening in June 1986, I was 17, and during the next two hours saw the two most iconic goals of all time. That second goal is still the only goal I can really say has ever taken my breath away, watching it as it happened it seemed as if in slow motion, and you were praying an England player would take him out. That goal on a sh*t pitch, when players could tackle any how they liked at the time, and past the best keeper in the world, mesmerising, but heartbreaking as well, and he did same v Belgium in semi final. First World Cup I ever watched was 1978 and Argentina had Kempes, Lukay etc, but there was already talk of this teenager coming through then, in 1982 he got sent off v Brazil, and I as 13 year old thought we won’t hear of him again, role on 1986 and the rest is history, the greatest in my eyes, even though he hated England
November 26, 20205 yr I'm one of those English that remember his hand of God moment so always have mixed feelings about him. Definitely one of the best talents of his generation. Respect for him trying to do something for the national side even though he failed in that regard, he tried.
November 26, 20205 yr One of the greatest ever to play the sport. Individually, his performances in the 86 World Cup are legendary. Crazy man off the field. Have to admit I was amazed he made it to 60 considering his lifestyle. RIP.
