I thought this would be interesting, how did you guys become a blue?

For me, I grew up in Guildford and my Mum was a Chelsea fan, she used to go to the shed end and she’d rave about Kerry Dixon. Super Frank was her next favourite player.

Sadly she died from cancer being 52 (2 years ago), just before Frank was appointed our manager which was a shame because she would have loved that. Anyway I have placed her plaque in Stamford Bridge and she is mainly the reason to why I’m a Chelsea fan. She took me to a lot of games in my childhood, my first game being Chelsea West Ham in 1996, the one where Hughes got a double and Zola.

Ever since then I’ve been addicted to Chelsea.

How about you guys?

Because I happened to be walking down Onslow Gardens one day in October 1981 and when I got to the intersection of Fulham road- I saw a sea of people in blue and white scarfs headed west towards the Bridge.  It was a solemn procession, which if you were around in 1981, you would understand why.

Really sad to learn about your Mum dan. 

I was born about 3 miles from the ground and my Father was a big Chelsea supporter In fact he's 86 now and still is. 

 

Old man bribed me with the promise of buying me Chelsea stuff 

Born in Tufnell Park Road, all the family are gooners.

We moved to an overspill area outside London and I got to be mates with some Chelsea kids and that was that.. 1965, I was 5yrs old.

Used to go a lot in the mid 70's and try to do a few games every season.

Managers and players come and go, but we are still here and ALWAYS will be.

Also I live in Germany, the local sports shop had a sale on international kits. My brother got me the 1999 Autoglass shirt (my first shirt ever) and somehow since then I became a blue (I was still very young) and resisted to be a Bayern fan like all my other siblings

Same here! 1998 kit always make me think of Zola.

Very Similar To A Lot Of You, But My Dad Followed Zola At His Napoli Days Then Parma And Then When He Signed For Chelsea My Dad Became A Fan Of Chelsea And Told Me All About Zola, So It All Started From Then

One of my Uncles lived nearish The Bridge in the late 1950s. He used to go along and watch The Blues back then. My old man would often come down from Scotland for the weekend and they’d go to watch Chelsea.
My old mans favourite all time player was Charlie Cooke and he’d played against him, when Charlie Cooke was just starting out in non League Football up here in Scotland.
I got interested in football during the 1974 World Cup and heard stories about them going to the Chelsea games.So I simply decided that Chelsea were my team.

Some of the older kids I played football with in Reading were Chelsea supporters and travelled to the Bridge for some home games; my old man let me go with them one Saturday..never looked  backed since..that was 1967...so don't abuse us old guys when we say 'those were the days when tackles were real tackles, not tickles like we see today'  and the days when your dad had to nail your studs on the bottom of yer boots 

My dads side of family were all Chelsea, my Grandad and his 10 brothers and sisters were all from Westminster and went through the war, my Grandad and dad even saw Jimmy Greaves at Chelsea, Grandparents and dad moved to West Sussex in 1960, didn’t have a choice thankfully it was Chelsea, although my first cup final I watched on TV was the 1975 final, and my second team became West Ham!!! Because they won and were always on TV, I was only 6, it only lasted until about 10 and faded thankfully, hate those bastards with a passion now, School days were difficult because we were crap, but when the 1983 team arrived things changed, at school the kids were in awe of our away support, because of the size and reputation of the fan base, season ticket holder now, and although didn’t miss football days last spring when Lockdown arrived, now can’t wait to get back to bridge. 
As they say, ‘just imagine not being Chelsea’

Same here. It was strange being the only Chelsea supporter in school when all the other kids were glory-hunting Liverpool and Man Utd supporters and we were relegation fodder, but it worked out pretty well in the end.

My dad started taking me to watch lots of different teams when i was about 7-8, from non league to div one matches, we went all over the place, many of those stadiums long gone now. We never followed a particular team, until i was in high school and allowed to go to games on my own. Then one Saturday in the early 80s i got a chance to take a train down to Wales and watch a division 2 match between Cardiff v Chelsea, I got swept along with the promotion battle, learned to hate Leeds, and to stand on the "ten men" ?

My retro Chelsea tops are probably two sizes larger than when they originally came out!?

No wonder mine were like sheets..just dug those old Umbro 'Vapa Tech' shirts out ..they are XL or XXL...maybe when I bought them I thought they would shrink in the wash .  Strange how we went from Umbro to Adidas, 'Clima Cool' and then back to Umbro ..God knows where my 70's and 80's shirts ended up.  Got fed up buying shirts when they started bringing out about 8 kits a season! 

There is a prominent American on the team.

For the love god don’t give them ideas! I stopped buying them when the prices skyrocketed and the quality took a huge downturn. The ‘stadium’ shirts they do now are no better than cheap Chinese knock-offs bought on Amazon for £10. 

Born in Lambeth and then lived in Battersea. My family were all Chelsea and so it went from there!
