Anthony Taylor

I'm not too sure about other teams but I know we seem to get the short end of the stick by a few referees, particularly in big games. Anthony Taylor and Chris Foy are two of the worst referees I've seen when it comes to Chelsea, always giving us red cards and f**king us over in big games especially. Chris Foy had a ridiculous stat something like 8 red cards against us in 30 refereed games.

Mark Clattenburg another twat Coco mentioned earlier who actually admitted to fixing a game because he didn't want bad PR he f**ked us over in a few big games also. I remember when he awarded RVP two penalties for clear dives, I could even tell at the time he was sh*t scared of getting bollocked by Ferguson because it could've completely ruined Uniteds season.

These referees are just awful, badly trained, and succumb to pressure far too easily.

Clattenburg was the ref who wrongly sent off Torres for a dive (2nd yellow) when it should have been a red card for Jonny Evans. United beat us 3-2 (offside winner from Chicarito), and if we'd won we'd have gone about 6 points clear of them. At the end of the game Mikel lost it with him because Ramires told him he'd called him a monkey. Clattenburg was so incensed he wanted to sue the club for supporting Mikel, and in his book he admitted to having a major grievance against us.

And yet the FA/ PGMOL still thought it appropriate to let him take charge of our games, and the upshot was the disgrace of the Spurs game when he refused to protect our players and let Spuds players assault our players and avoid red cards ( so he wouldn't be blamed for costing them the title).

Edit: The fallout from that game saw our form collapse, and within a few weeks RdM was sacked. Eerie parallels with how the hair-pull incident also saw our form go down the pan, and TT was sacked within weeks. (In reality, our form was already crap, and the Spuds 2-2 was a rare good performance, but who knows if a win that day would have sparked some kind of improvement which might have kept TT in the job?).

I don't know what is going on in the premier league but if an official in the NFL admitted to missing a call just cause he didn't feel like making the call or because it might make a friend look bad, that official would be fired.  And while I don't think it would go this far, there would be calls for them to be criminally prosecuted for match fixing.

And lord knows the NFL isn't full of saints but you couldn't make an admission like that and keep your job.

It is unfathomable to me that Mike Dean still has a job.

Mike Dean retired recently, that's the only reason the f**ker is spilling the beans.

And apparently he told Anthony Taylor what he did, so why didn't THAT f**ker report him ?

Like Clattenburg I suspect Dean has got a book coming ,  there's no such thing as bad publicity. His fees for his VAR time should be repaid

We had our apology yet?

Dean saw the hair pull , knew it was a foul and violent conduct, knew the ref should be told to go to VAR screen, knew it was wrong not to inform the ref but still made a corrupt decision to keep quiet.

Instead of an apology they issue a self serving statement

The fact that these people have a book about themselves proves how full of themselves they are. This is the only sport where I see this kind of sh*t, I don't see umpires in Tennis making it all about them.

The PGMOL are a disgrace to the game in this country. They never improve, they just get worse. The fact that they keep bringing back w**kers like Howard Webb proves how out of touch they are. Howard Webb was part of the problem when he was ref, he shouldn't be anywhere near such an important role.

It's opened it up now for fans of all  clubs to believe there's an agenda against them.

Forest and Fulham fans saying that refs and VAR favour the big teams after today's games.

Wolves deffo had a good case for this allegation at United last week.

The games should be about the players and not this motley crew who are largely incompetent. Yes we need refs but the ability they have to change the course of the game is insane. There is simply no consistency and we continue to introduce more subjectivity in the game. The worst part is that they can get away with howlers in real time because they don’t have to explain.

The only way this changes if what goes on during a var conversation is made public. If they know the public can hear them think through a decision atleast they know the rationale. The strange part is the PGMOL’s resistance to this. If they are as trained as their statement says why are they so afraid?

this happens in field hockey which is a much faster game and sure people disagree with some interpretations but atleast they know a referee is using some logic.

I mean this weekend both Utd and Arsenal played 20 mins extra time. If we knew there were 15 mins against westham instead of 7 who knows what would have happened.

This is getting to be a habit, about time the club asked for answers.

We’ve had two refs in recent history that have admitted cheating, remember Clattenburg also v Spuds when he refused to show 2nd yellows to several Spuds players as he didn’t want to be the reason why they didn’t win the league, and then later admitted it.

Yes mate, f**king corrupt. What if Spurs had beaten us that night when they should have had a couple of reds and went on to win the league?

You can't watch " the battle of the Bridge" without wondering how the f**k Spurs got away with that violence on the night.

Clattenburg could have gifted those f**kers the title by deliberately not making the right decisions.

I wasn't one to believe in deliberate wrong decision making,  but no ne can ever trust them again.

And no apology for Mike Dean's awful corruption just confirms their arrogance

This is why the club need to make noise about this, we have no voice, who’s meant to be the clubs mouthpiece ? We’re too soft.

Exactly

could you imagine Jose ? He would be screaming at everyone over this

We never used to be. When Abramovich first arrived, and even a decade after, we would stick up for ourselves and not take this kind of thing lightly. I think Mourinho was a huge positive on the club in that area, we fed off it at times. I don't know what changed but the club suddenly became soft and just stopped sticking up for itself. There is no way the likes of United or Liverpool would accept this kind of thing. We have had high profile refs exposed with their comments and comments made by their colleagues when it comes to us now, yet nothing has been done. The club should be kicking up a massive stink about this.

Totally agree, we could start off by contacting Howard Webb and demand that VAR goes fully transparent, get mics in front of their mouths and lets hear them explain their thoughts live, like in rugby and cricket.

Microphones are not the answer - because in this instance, it is highly likely that all you would hear is "check complete".

The only reliable way to stamp out these corrupt/unjust decisions is to have a variation of the following:

1) Having a challenge system for managers to use. 5x challenges per game - and in each challenge, the ref MUST look at the replay on the screen, and then give a justification in real time (which can be on mic) to the managers.

2) Having post game press conferences with refs, with the big decisions being replayed and the refs having to justify their decisions. This has the benefit of accountability, transparency and educating those who are less familiar with all the rules.

If they know they will be forced to explain the decisions, then it will stamp out the tendency to be dishonest.

Mikes will work .. see field hockey they go frame by frame sharing what they are checking for.

VAR is already a challenge mechanism- you can’t have a challenge on a challenge.

what’s the point of a conference post game. They will make up an excuse - real time is what matters.

We don’t need all that complication, we just need to hear what’s going on in the decision making, they will act differently, it’s a bit like putting a bodycam on a cop, it keeps them in line.

There should be a full investigation into the Clattenburg and  Dean admissions of corruption.

Clattenburg could have denied Leicester the title by not wanting to issue red cards that he admits he should have done but didn't want to be the " person to deny spurs the title"  preferring that they would do it to  themselves . That's not in his gift , red cards were down to Spurs violence, he shouldn't be thinking about their title challenge , f**king idiot

And Dean's admission thankfully has been picked up by all fans on other clubs sites, it's being condemned by all fans, everyone apart from the Refs association.

People saying Dean just made a mistake are incorrect

He deliberately made a wrong and corrupt decision , he knew it was wrong , he knew what the right decision was , but he refused to do his job. No mistake in it.

This shouldn't be left to fade away or forgotten

I'd like to know what the conversation in the VAR was with Dean.  Does he discuss it with others ?

And he told Taylor what he had done.

Taylor should have spoken up instead of keeping his trap shut . He should be quizzed about this and suspended until we know what happened.

The lack of concern from those at the top is disgusting.

The way Mike Dean was talking on sky sports when quizzed about it was shocking, he was even smiling about it, whilst the panelists and presenter all looked on with jaws dropped, it felt weird.

Considering how litigious Americans usually are it wouldn't surprise me if our owners at least threaten to take some of the groups/people involved to court.

ESP - GER : How can anyone be so poor referee as Taylor?

No YC for Kroos at the start was ridiculous. Gave licence for countless dodgy tackles, cheating, et al, until the YCs started to rain like confetti.

The worst refs so far unsurprisingly are the English refs

The thing that surprises me is that both Oliver & Taylor have been given 1/4 games. They certainly won’t get semi final games but if England don’t somehow fluke progress to the final I suspect that one of them will get the final
