It is obvious Carney has far more potential than Gallagher but can he do a job? Can he be discipline following manager instruction? Can he play with the same intensity as Conor? So far he hasn't showed it yet and it got nothing to do about confidence.

But as I said, even if it's a lower fee next season it will not be by a significant amount. I think taking a chance on his development is worth more than an extra £10m or so as he will save us more in the long run if he turns good.

Conner Gallagher another marmite player for fans on here. You know, feel free to put all your eggs in one basket and back players who are not regular international footballers, who haven't scored goals at premier league level and have never played a minute for the first team. 

Funny, the same people who despise Mason Mount probably will turn on Gallagher in due course. I mean it is fashionable to run our own players into the ground on social media  for likes...

Gallagher is 23 and at the start of his premier league career. He has 7 International caps, has represented England at all youth levels and is in the process of breaking through into the CFC senior squad. Not an easy task but one he;'s actually doing, just like Mount did... who won us the Champions League. A host of premier league clubs, including Newcastle would love to sign a player of his quality. He scored 8 goals in 34 for Palace when played regularly. 

I just don't get how fans can say he isn't good enough when a replacement would cost us 60 million plus in this market...

I don't think that's fair, no one can predict an ACL injury which is the main reason his valuation is so low now.

My bold prediction for 23/24 is CHO stays with us, does well as a bench/rotation player, and reminds us why he was rated so highly not long ago.

He can plug in anywhere behind a striker in Pochettino's 4231, with the likes of Ziyech and Pulisic leaving there could be need for him in the squad.

I'm noot so sure ... we'd have Sterling, Madueke and Mudryk all presumably well ahead of him, and possibly Nkunku and Jackson also capable of playing in the channels, or even Broja, or Hall on LW. Plus Mount might stay too ? I think CHO is far enough down the pecking order that he's either loaned again or more likely sold.  His loan last year was dire (in a league where many others post large numbers of goals and assists) and really hasn't helped him.

You're probably right, I just can't shake the feeling Pochettino's gonna like him for some reason.

Gallagher had a great first half of loan season with Palace, and then faded badly, and then backed it up with a bang average season back at Chelsea. Could you see him in the midfield of City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern ? I can't, with the inference that he shouldn't be in our midfield either !

CHO is on a reported 200k a week with us. May not be easy to sell him.

With all due respect, majority of our players would not get into those teams and it's not something that can be fixed within a year with Gallagher's sale.

And if you are trying to keep up with those teams, I hardly think selling an experienced player that still has potential and replacing him with the likes of Santos, Casadei, etc is a good idea. If our midfield was more settled I wouldn't mind too much but not as things currently stand where we will only have Enzo remaining.

Galalagher situation is very funny. Last year everyone said that Conor is ready to replace Kante. I said although Conor is better at goalscoring than Kante, you need to do the midfield stuff first before the goal stuff.

My opinion on midfield is to keep Conor. Let him and carney compete for that 1st midfielder off the bench. Send Santos and cassedei on loan. 

Then asses the situation again next season.
