July 18, 20233 yr Slap a 60m plus add ons price tag on him. Yes he was rubbish last season but so was everyone else. He's one player that shows heart and desire on the pitch.
July 18, 20233 yr The fee being quoted seems to be between £25 mill to £35 mill which I assume is all profit for FFP but seems a little low in todays market I believe .
July 18, 20233 yr Very useful member of the squad imo. Would hate to see him go and to that crowd and at that fee. Madness.

Theres a difference between fee and offer, that low price is West Hams offer, not what we are willing to accept. Frankly it would be idiotic to sell him now unless we have 2 midfielders about to sign. Edited July 18, 20233 yr by dkw

July 18, 20233 yr We should be keeping him, not demanding anything! This sale would piss me off probably more than any other so far this year! We don't need to sell him!
July 19, 20233 yr What's the plan, sell him for 40M than buy another 18 year old wonder kid from Brazil? He's keen to stay, and we need experience and energy in this time.
July 19, 20232 yr if we sell gallacher for any amount i will be beyond angry. It sounds like Pochettino is very keen to keep him and work with him, and the player is keen to stay and prove himself. If he is sold then it would appear that its against Pochettino's wishes. This would be a very big red flag for me as far as our owners go, and i wouldnt blame Pochettino for walking away at that point tbh. Its beyond frustrating that we do not have enough senior players to thrive this season, and then you read that we are trying to make deals to buy promising players, only to loan them back to their club for the season. Seriously what are we doing? My frustration is growing.

July 23, 20232 yr I really think he offers something unique to this team, both offensively and deffensively. I hope he stays.
July 23, 20232 yr He is quality but Pochettino needs to learn fast that he is a talent in the attacking phase but a liability deeper and in the build up play. Just don't play him in the pivot
July 24, 20232 yr It looks like Conor is fitting in Pochettino's plan. I don't see him playing deep in the midfield like Enzo though. He is usually just able to pass sideways and backwards and maybe lacks the vision needed for that role. You also need to be able to ping accurate passes behind the line. Maybe Conor can do that but there is little evidence of it. What he can do is find the net which he has already shown at Palace and in our two preseason games. That goal against Brighton was pure quality. To switch feet so quick to blast it in the net is a skill. Something that we lack in the side and have done for a while. Maybe Mount has those skills but he is now gone. As a DM Conor lacks that eagle eye and probably flat out pace. He is quick in movement but lacks in running pace. Sometimes you need that in that role. Remember how Kante sometimes just robbed people chasing them. Some people here suggest him as a 10 and that is probably his best position as he is so good at chasing players in the counter press. Also an advancing 8 with a 6 and another 8 would suit him. Pochettino probably just doesn't use that formation....remains to be seen. I also feel Mount leaving could be the key for his success at Chelsea. Mount was always the focal point. Now it could be Gallagher.

He's in the pivot or bust for me (and I think we have better options there too).

If that's the case, then the pre-season goals should help secure a decent fee ! Rose-coloured Cobham spectacles aside, I think we have to trust Pochettino if this is the decision he has made.
July 24, 20232 yr Incredibly harsh on him. He’s one of a very few who always gave 100% and loved playing for the badge. I’d keep him as a squad player.
July 24, 20232 yr Really not happy with this! Absolutely no need! Can clearly see what he’s capable of! I thought giving him the full 90 mins the other night was a sure sign he stays, but was probably just showing his value to the ‘rival’ (again) that we sell him to! I don’t understand why! https://apple.news/ATQmapgnKTmGreQXemoow9g
July 24, 20232 yr I like Gallagher, but with us playing 4-2-3-1, I can see why we're looking to sell him. I don't think he's good enough to play in the pivot, and I think (as someone said above) we have better options for the 3 in behind the striker. He looks best suited to playing B2B in a 4-3-3. If we can replace him with Olise/Kudus/Cherki type, without spending anything/much on top, I'd be happy. Hopefully this means Casadei is staying.
