Another lockdown?

Featured Replies

Few whispers out there that a few in the Premier Leage are concerned new lockdown measures could see fans banned again and the season suspended if the current cases continue to rise with the new variant.

Hopefully they are over reacting but ain't that a lovely thought...

In the Netherlands the stands have been empty again since a few weeks.

The restrictive rules in the Netherlands are extended until mid-January. This means people cannot host more than 4 people per day, no exceptions for Christmas. Oh dear, this will not go down well with my parents, who are still grumbling about last Christmas (I hate how quickly you can sound like a Wham song :face_palm: ).

Austria sending people to prisons that are not vaccinated, absolutely OTT.

Not going to end well.

Lot of hatred between those vaccinated and those not so in a few countries. If stuff like this starts happening can see there being a big problem.

Everytime a story about Aguero retiring comes up on Facebook messages flood in blaming the vaccine.

There is a lot of sports people getting cardiac problems now no-one is questioning the virus or vaccine publicly which is kind of strange as it is so topical.

Fans in the stands as well.

Cardiac problems in footballers were there well before COVID-19 or the vaccine, in fact, there are cases of cardiac arrest while playing since the last century. And the amount of sh*t professional footballers take is quite high, I’d rather question that than a vaccine that’s saving millions off people.

The world has gone crazy and obsessive over covid. Fair enough when it first happened with no vaccines and big deaths..but now, it’s like they’ve gone mental over the power and control.

I mean, Spurs and United have seen COVID cases rip through their squads in recent weeks which highlights such how contagious the virus still is.

The fixture list is already congested and constant postponements aren't really an option but we're seeing it already and it's not even winter yet.

This is before you even think about how having 50k people all using trains, buses etc to get to stadiums is basically the exact opposite of the advice being given about social distancing, avoiding large gatherings etc.

I completely agree that after 2 years we need to being our best to return to "normal" but at the same time we can't irresponsibly and blindly just charge headlong into situations that could make things worse further down the line.

Hopefully the push for booster jabs will help to avoid the need to stop fans attending games and to stop a situation where the league may need to be suspended.

Being an Austrian myself, I have to say this isn't really factual... Whereas the final law isn't out yet, the current draft intends a fine of 3600€ at most.

Also, linking wrong information with a reference to Hitler is extremely inappropriate, not to mention completely irrelevant. Godwin's law in full swing.

Strider has already told us all in the past he has cured cancer for people, so i would take anything he says with a barrel of salt.

Agreed, but that doesn't mean he can get away with his stupid posts without comment.

Yes his non-football posts need to be fact checked.

I'm fully vaccinated.

But it is a bit peculiar there have seemingly been a significant spike in cardiac events recently. I couldn't say it's due to the vaccine and I hope not but there is no doubt there has seemingly been more events than usual. Both in the stands and on the pitch. Couple of days ago someone collapsed in Ligue 1 as well if i'm not mistaken.

If its related, it'll be COVID itself not the vaccine. There were lots of reports early on of heart issues, blood clots, etc.. Related to 'long' covid, I seem to recall.

He's been one of the more high profile COVID sceptics. Without knowing which players are and aren't vaccinated you can't argue one way or the other about the health effects.

Joshua Kimmich is currently ruled out for an extended period because of COVID related respiratory problems and has said he now wishes he had had the vaccine.

One of the effects of covid-19 is an inflammation of the heart tissues, but according to doctors this seems to be more problematic in children. I have a friend that had to take her little girl of 9 to intensive care unit because of heart inflammation after she had passed covid-19 several weeks before (fortunately, kids seem to recover well from this kind of problems). Her doctor mentioned my friend that they are seeing this in about 1% of children that have had covid. I also have another friend whose son of 25 is now waiting for kidneys transplant due to covid-19. These two cases I know of first hand were all before the vaccine. The vaccine is preventing many deaths and health issues, and a twat contradicting in Twatter all the hundreds of scientific publications with proper experiments and evidence, is just an opinionated arse.

100%. If there are any heart issues, I would think it is far more likely related to underlying problems left by Covid (especially long Covid), rather than the Covid-vaccine. There is rightly a lot of focus on the fatalities from Covid, but based on scientific research about 20% of those that survive can be left with long term issues, including heart problems. Certainly it would be good if athletes could all be evaluated for underlying heart conditions thought, especially knowing that it is something that can result from Covid.
