So he got spun twice in 90 minutes? Never getting a second yellow for that, so yes moot point.

Surely you're going to sing his praises for his passing game too then? Probably the most confident player in the league playing out from the back.

I’d disagree, havertz had open road in front of him and he’d already gotten away with a blatant yellow on raya but we’re going around in circles.

He’s a good passer to be fair and looks the part athletically. He’s young as well and the best option currently but he’s far from where we need him to be.

Made a couple of bad errors against Brighton/Liverpool and was partially at fault yesterday. He’s also at the heart of a defence that can’t keep a clean sheet at and leaks a fair few chances but that’s not just his fault to be fair.

Basically I think he needs to up his game significantly over the next 6-12 months or he will be getting replaced.

I too would worry if he doesn't improve in the next 4 years.

I'm hoping to see an improvement of him filling out his body more by then too. Playing only 1 game a week now and every other week we hear news of the club managing his overload or nursing an injury.

He continues to improve, and is one of the groups leaders.

He should have defended the first goal better though, fell asleep and allowed Solanke to beat him to the ball when he had the advantage.

If he wants to be the centreback boss I think he wants to be he needs to assert himself more and improve. Still young of course so I have no doubt he will improve but he's not yet that commanding presence at CB that we need for me.

I agree.

If it was Badiashile or Disasi that Solanke brushed off so easily for the first Tottenham goal, it would have been a much different reaction in the match thread for sure !

The caveat is that Colwill is still only 21, which is incredibly young to expect the finished article as a centre back.

I can't think of one young centre back at any club that doesn't make mistakes and have a few improvement areas.

Kulusevski got away from him for his goal as well and he was extremely passive and just let Son run past him for that gilt edged chance a couple of minutes into added time. Academy lad or not, he was all over the place yesterday.

Has all the physical attributes, but would like to see him push on with positional, focus and mental side of the game.  Not criticizing, but want to see his game go up a level, which I think it needs to in order to be long-term first choice CB at Chelsea.

At risk of repeating myself, and part of a poor performing team today, but I’m just not seeing it with him.

Hope I’m wrong. He’s good, but does he have the mental and technical attributes to go to the next level. He could really do with an experienced leader next to him to learn from. Credit his availability and consistency, but we need a rock at the back.

He’s okay that’s about it. He as a looooooong way to go to be considered a top defender.

He’s cobham so he obviously gets a lot more leeway but there was a point in the Fulham game where he tried a headed clearance which was shambolic.

I rate colwill highly in general, but that defending for the second goal is just horrendous. The danger was right in front of him and this gimp decided to lightly jog back, just awful, and it isn't the first time he's let us down recently either. He needs to step up asap.

Everyone usually assumes a new top CB will partner Colwill if we go out and get one but for me that new recruit would partner Fofana in such a scenario.
You just know Colwill would throw a fit in that kind of scenario though as he's more than a bit of a loudmouth but for now at least he's not as good as he thinks he is.

Probably more chance of James getting over his injuries than Fofana.

Really bizarre reading the comments putting any blame on Colwill yesterday, he was our best defender.

He wasn't lightly jogging back, he was holding what he thought was a very good line for offside. He even has a quick look across to check the line to see if he was where he was meant to be. That goal is entirely on Tosin for keeping everyone onside by such a ridiculous margin.

Tosin kept everyone onsides because Sanchez the lunatic kicked it long to virtually no one whilst Tosin was right next to him asking to play it short like a sensible human being would. This led to every Fulham player onsides because Tosin was that far back.

I feel like Tosin still had enough time to get up the pitch. Either way none of the goals were Colwill’s fault.

Only culprits for me were Enzo and Sanchez on that 2nd goal.

So no blame for Cucarella for being at the wrong end of the pitch and offside? Or every other player who was upfield and didn't do anything to win the ball back and prevent them getting the winner that was obviously coming? The Sanchez scapegoating is a bit tedious tbh, he's far from the best but he's not the reason we lost.

What exactly are you talking about?

We were in the attacking end when Enzo kicked it at a Fulham player that went back straight to Sanchez. Of course Cucurella was going to be that far up he doesn’t recover at 100kph. Sanchez’s pass literally went straight to a Fulham Player and with Tosin that far back they exploited the space.

Im talking about us conceding a (second) goal because our players put in a half arsed effort. Sanchez didn't "kick it straight to a Fulham player" he kicked it long and none of our players competed for the ball. I'm not expecting Cucurella to recover at 100mph but I expect him to react, (the Fulham players did, hence him being offside) and not be offside (nevermind wildly out of position) when the keeper kicks it long. My point is less about Cucurella specifically, that just wound me up the moment I saw it, it's more about every single outfield player who failed to do anything to stop the goal yet Sanchez being the easy target for blame.
