Levi Colwill

I want to preface this by saying I think he's England's best defensive talent in years and should absolutely stay at Chelsea and I don't want him gone, but

...if and only if Bayern offered stupid Hudson-Odoi money (75m+)

...and he wanted to go and we could negotiate a buy-back or first-option or something

I'd take it in a heartbeat. Bayern Munich are a graveyard for defenders' careers - witness their treatement of Upamecano and Min-Jae after high-profile errors.

Love Colwill for his talent and potential, but his injury history to date is quite a concern and his performance, albeit for many reasons, have not been world-beating.

The main downside for me is that we have also been loosely linked with Upamecano,  a right footed, right side CB, but who else would we get on the left side. We cannot go into a season with Badiashile as our left side CB.

Bayern are known for heavily prepping the media when they're interested in a player. Incredibly unethical but expect nothing less from Ze Germans.

I can't imagine Kompany has much pulling power and Leverkusen have kept Alonso on so probably another year without a title for Bayern.

Contracted until 2029, i'll wait to see if a £100m offer is made before i worry.

Another not for sale stance as confirmed by Romano.

I mean this was already abundantly obvious to anyone who's paid attention to how Clearlake have dealt with Colwill since they've got here but nice to see it confirmed anyway.

Problem is though even selling at that price can only work if we can source a replacement as good/better, guess it's not totally out of the question given some of our signings of late but still. Selling Reece even for a Kings ransom in 2019 when he was unproven would have come back to haunt us even more than KDB (every chance his injury record wouldn't have been even half as bad elsewhere).

As much as I don't want Gallagher to go I'm confident we could find someone who does what he does and maybe more on top (may even have it already in Santos), Chalobah I feel Tosin can replace his role pretty comfortably, I can't with comfort say we'd find replacing Colwill as easy (people can cite him being so so as a hug the touchline left back all they want but there's a reason clubs like Bayern and Liverpool want(ed) him and i bet they'd quickly be more if we demonstrate even a hint of a willingness to sell).

IF BAYEN WANT COLWILL THEN TELL THEM WE WILL HAVE ALPHONSO DAVIES IN EXCHANGE

Not in a million years. Davies: speed machine, winger stealing a living as a LB, defensively dreadful.

Talk of Bayern inquiring about Colwill.  His season somewhat fizzled out after a poor start to 2024 (by the entire team), and we never saw him again even when form turned.

Can't see us selling - long contract for a reason and ideally one day we see Colwill and a fit Fofana at the back.

Was talking to US TV after the game saying how he feels we will become a really good team, that Maresca is doing brilliantly and all the players are buying in to his way of thinking.

He and Fofana 100% the first choice pairing.

Save Tosin and Badiashile for conference league/cup matches.

Really hope they can stay fit and reach their potential.

Been excited about the prospect of this partnership for two years.
