January 10, 20242 yr 1 hour ago, just said: You can't be serious WW! Jackson is absolutely appalling in the air. And that's when he can be arsed to actually jump. His timing is non-existent. Quite possibly, although i did think that he was clearing some at the front post. Its a sad indictment if we actually only have one bloke capable of jumping and heading and a fair proportion of the fanbase think its time for him to move on. Laughably our 39 year old CB is also the smallest of the CBs that we have.
January 10, 20242 yr Pochettino should have seen enough of Colwill at left back by now to know it does not work. Hopefully seeing a pace Chapionship winger rip him a new one was the last straw. Start Williams there, he is a left back at least. Chilwell will be back I believe for the second leg. Get him fot and start him there, let Levi play LCB or not at all.

Oh for the days of Drogba, Ivanovich, JT, Cahill, Ballack etc. Getting a corner was almost as good as winning a penalty!
January 12, 20242 yr If Colwill plays left back tomorrow instead of next to Silva then fans will combust. It makes him look crap.

Colwill has a higher rating on Whoscored for playing mainly at left back for us this season than he had playing centre back in a better team (Brighton) last season ... 🙂 The mistakes he makes are basic footballing ones, irrespective of what position he is playing. He's only 20 so it is going to happen ...
January 12, 20242 yr 6 minutes ago, CaitlinCFC said: Maybe he is actually crap then. Do you want him to play there? Wherever the manager wants him to play ... same as any other player 🙂 If Chilwell is ready to start then obviously I'd want him to be at left back, but after a long time out it will be understandable if he is eased back in slowly. So if Pochettino picks Colwill at left back then I'm simply going to assume that there is a valid reason he is doing so ...
January 12, 20242 yr Are you Poch's brother? Can you tell him that playing Cole as a striker is a crap idea too ☺️

What a load of nonsense, anyone with eyes can see hes struggling at LB, his confidence is absolutely shot, all that about Brighton,, whoscored, just utter twaddle..

Gusto is a rb And Gilchrist is a centre back 🙂 Seems to be a distinct lack of appreciation for the issue we face of having our two senior left backs both injured at the same time. Someone has had to play left back. Pochettino has decided, presumably having looked at many options in training, that the best option was Colwill. I don't understand why people get so defensive about Colwill making a few mistakes. The whole damn team is making mistakes. It comes with the territory for young inexperienced Colwill is doing OK in my book. He's not peak Ashley Cole, but then who is ? Many would say Chilwell is our best left back, but apart from a purple spell at the beginning of 21/22 he's been pretty bang average in all honesty. There was a rumour that Pochettino wanted a new left back ... I could totally understand him wanting a new left back now he's had a good look at the squad ... I think Chilwell and Cucurella will both be moved on if we can find any buyers.
January 13, 20242 yr So is the argument here that Colwill getting skinned, outmuscle, losing duels and not stopping crosses constantly is directly related to being a few yards left of where you think he should be playing? So if that’s the argument then I worry if he’s playing CB and have to cover the LB if he’s gets caught upfield because based on current performance he will get ripped apart. His errors are basic football errors like not winning duels, getting out muscle and not stopping crosses these have nothing to do with playing LB it’s just basic footballing skill. Gutso moves from RB to LB mid game performance doesn’t drop, Azpi could move from RB, to LB to CB during a game, Reece could move from RB to RCB mid game all performed well.

January 13, 20242 yr I don't typically like Sofascore, as I think their algorithms tend to over-rate performances. But here is their view of Colwill's last 12 months. https://www.sofascore.com/player/levi-colwill/996911 So yet another stats site that sees him performing better under Pochettino than he was under De Zerbi, and mainly at left back of course instead of centre back.

True but you're missing the point. People are on Poch's back for playing Colwill at left back because he is "ruining him" by playing him out of position (we'll overlook the fact that all the data on multiple sites suggests he's doing better there than he was last season at centre back). And yet their solution is to have two players playing out of position instead of one ? It's a total failure of common sense and logic, but I get that any excuse to bash the manager is where we are at right now. Anyway ... enough of beating my head against a brick wall 🙂
