Lol, yeah, more reasons to having a big squad, just a shame I don't rate our second 11 as much as our first. I'd be worried if we had both disaster brothers starting against a strong team. 

I think it will come with time. Just a slight change. I would like him to mature up just a bit more and pick when to fight and when to calm the situation down as the capt.

This point is missed so much, hes a kid still learning his trade and yet is already playing as one of the best CB`s in the premier league, He is going to be something very special.

I know most won't like this but if reece can't run like he used to and injury has taken its toll then him partnering colwill ain't a bad pairing imo. Fofana is currently ok, but can be a liability like sanchez in games. Has Fofana reached full fitness yet? (Not saying his fitness has anything to do with his brain farts btw)

It is too early to answer this (time will tell) - I am wondering if he is good enough for Chelsea long term.  Should definitely continue to start every game, but he leaves me wanting more.  I don't yet see a commanding center back in him (Virgil Van Dyk, Saliba) - just too passive.  Prove me wrong and grow into it, but if this is his standard, then we need to upgrade next season or two.

I don't think he was very good today, but I don't think he has been too bad overall. I think they are all a victim of the system. None of them look particularly good. Colwill was brilliant in his stint at Brighton, a team I think are far superior at playing it out of the back than we have ever been.

Fair points.  Doing my absolute best to remain objective and remove emotion (which is damn hard with Chelsea) - really interested in how Levi progresses this season.  25% in and I'd say he is performing at a flat level, meaning week to week this is it.  I want to see a slope to that line that improves with time (which I am sure it will).

He’s been consistently mediocre at best in a Chelsea shirt as has Fofana. They’re both young so that gives them some slack but neither warrant the reputation they have.

Maresca will have to stick with both of them for the time being because the two subs are a disaster.

If we really want Colwill to turn into a world class centre back, we definitely need to find the right partner for him.

Think of John Terry with Desailly. He learnt from him. Carvalho with Terry. Vidic with Ferdinand and so on.

He needs to learn to use his body better.. just gets bullied to often.. but this is his first full season in a back 2 .. Brighton a Chelsea combined he has played 60 times and is 21. 
 

Saliba 2 years back was in France .. VVD in Scotland  etc..

can we get an upgrade - absolutely but to demand world class performances from a kid at 21 unrealistic..

specifically on Colwill.. he gave the ball away once today and played folks onside.. but gusto and others should have dropped off . Also he was critical in defending set pieces today that went unnoticed.

Where was VVD playing at 21?

At a much lower level than Colwill playing at Groningen and Celtic. The guy is growing into the role and he has to do that here not out on loan somewhere. 
 

If we made him available every top club in England and several from Europe would be after him for north of £70 million

 

Got caught too deep breaking the offside line for Arsenals goal.

Though I fault Gusto and Sanchez more.

I dont know which games youve been watching, he has been one of, if not the best defensive performer in each game for use,

He was very poor yesterday, Gave away a very rash penalty against Liverpool, poor clearance against Brighton that directly lead to a goal. Generally mediocre all of last season.

He got spun a number times , was somewhat fortunate to not get a 2nd booking towards the end when havertz turned him/his needless block on rayas goal kick. He Played everyone onside for arsenals goal. It Was hardly vintage defending on the last play when both havertz and Trossard got goal side of him for a tap in the edge of the six yard box.

He didn't get a second booking, so moot point.

The needless block on Raya's goal kick is the exact type of sh*thousery we miss. Long may it continue, or perhaps you'd prefer a quick counter attack for the opposition?

The offside for the goal was poor but its a split second reaction, we've seen other players do it this season and we'll see many others do it going forward.

Did either of them score? They also got ahead of Fofana btw.

He got spun when took out saka for his yellow card and also towards the end when he had to foul havertz who had also done him. It’s not really a moot point because on another day he does get a 2nd yellow and it ties in with a pattern of rashness in his game.

With the current focus on “delaying the restart” we don’t need our centre back picking up a daft yellow card early in the first half, particularly when he’s forced to make a couple of cynical fouls later on.

So he got spun twice in 90 minutes? Never getting a second yellow for that, so yes moot point. 

Surely you're going to sing his praises for his passing game too then? Probably the most confident player in the league playing out from the back.
