Would we have even stood a chance? The fact he's a childhood Leeds fan alone would have probably ruled us out.

I think the fact we signed Lukaku for 100m despite all the evidence it would be a failure just stings that much more.

Boehly sacking everyone internally speaks volumes.

Yea, with the difference being (as has been discussed many times in this thread) City have done it all right on & off the pitch to maintain that dominance, we can’t compare ourselves now; which is incredibly bleak considering what we’ve also spent.

Biggest issue for me is there was money available last season, and this season Boehly has shown he is willing to spend. We have spent £350m in the last 2 windows and still have holes all over the team. If Tuchel had been realistic and patient instead of thinking he could win the league, we would be almost halfway through a proper rebuild. I still don’t understand his thinking with the Koulibaly signing & needing a £62m alternative LB. 8 games into the season and we are already 5pts behind City if we win our game in hand.

Haaland is one of those cheat code players that you used to find on a football manager or Fifa. He is just so talented and focused on making the most of that talent.

Must be like what opponents felt when they faced Drogba at his best.

We all love Drogba, but Didier, for all his many qualities, is not remotely in the same bracket as Haaland ...

Even more so, what Haaland is doing thus far is totally unprecedented, literally no comparison, the guy isn’t human.

We just have to hope Real Madrid come in soon, as soon as possible.

The thing is, at present.. City are actually looking at giving Haaland a ‘new’ contract, yes that’s right.. only 8 games in, it’s due to the amount of f**king clauses and freedoms that came with the deal Raiola’s agency wrote up in the original. We just have to pray they’re unsuccessful, as it’s very easy for the likes of Madrid to come in 2 years time and snap him up atm.

I expect there will be adaptation period for both city n Haaland, turn out I was wrong. The adaptation period was 1 game.

The problem with Haaland, as good as he is. He will look half or even less if he play with us.

Thing is that city are such a well oiled machine at the moment that they will identify and sign the appropriate replacement with minimum of fuss. They have a boatload of money but more importantly they have put in a system that makes good use of that money.

That is fair, Haaland is a true generational talent.

I think City wins the league each season as long as he is there, and will win a few CLs as well, maybe not every season, but a fair few.

14 goals in his first 8 PL games ... if he keeps that level of scoring up and plays all 38 games, he'll be looking at 66/67 goals ffs. That's not even been done in the good old days of 2-3-5 formations and leather balls !

Everton legend Dixie Dean holds the record for the most goals in a season with 60 set in the 1927–28 season - that could well be under threat at this rate !!!

Completely agree. It is crazy that we have spent crazy money for 3 seasons in a row and we just don't see any improvement in the team.

Havertz being mentioned as generational alongside Haaland is almost an insult.

Haaland has scored 14 goals in 8 games so far. How many goals do you think Haaland would have scored for us?

No almost about it. Haaland should already be mentioned only with PL greats like Henry, Shearer etc.

8, he is that good.

In last year 343, I probably think it will be 4-6 but probably 8 this season.

I saw one game where Haaland touched the ball maybe 10 times and scored a hattrick and It reminded me when we played palace and rom touched the ball maybe 7 times and we simply couldn't attack whatsoever.

Didier was much more I'd say. He had the heart and soul you need for a battle. It all looks good when you're scoring for fun and everything looks great. We're yet to see how Haaland responds when the going gets tough. Didier was precisely the player for such situations.

I don’t think any clause will stop him going to Madrid. His dad will insist on it, and or like with Mbappe last season with 12mths to go, Madrid will bid a ridiculous price when they want him. Madrid apparently have a €200m+  transfer surplus available.
