It won't happen simply because Utd won't sell to a top 4 rival and thank god for that

That stance always confuses me.

To your top players ofcourse but to players that you have replaced or are not that good I don't get it.

United could have blocked us from getting Diego Costa by giving us a past his best Rooney.

Kante being forced to give up the number 7 shirt (this would one of the worst moves we would of done in recent times IMO)

We can fix that by selling Kante.

He's as past his best as Ronaldo, has 1 year left, is our highest earner and can't stay fit.

i don't even want Ronaldo but i'd be open to a Kante and Ronaldo swap deal.

Gallagher can replace Kante.

I wouldn't entertain that for a second. Kante isn't the force he used to be but without him there's a gaping hole in the team. Gallagher can't replace kante for defensive quality. Next summer I would love Chelsea to go all out for a quality defensive midfielder and have a midfield 3 with Gallagher, mount and kovacic being the box to box options and have gilmour and ampadu as options but the defence needs more attention than midfield right now (in an ideal world a midfielder comes in this summer) and getting rid of kante would just add to the issues already there in the midfield.

We have about 6/7 deadwood players, Kante is the least of our worries!

we need 2 cbs 2 forwards and a mid bare min along with intergrating 2/3 chelsea lads i.e Gallagher, Gilmore

That's completely the point I was making! Between kante, jorginho and kovacic you know that there's going to be long parts of the season where at least 1 are out injured at any given point so to think that getting rid of kante is the answer is baffling to say the least. Gallagher is needed as well as one of ampadu and gilmour but another addition is needed otherwise we could be struggling.

Hope it’s not on the radar. This would smell of marketing decision for world wide shirt sales for people mad enough to buy one! I wonder how much a Lakaku one cost’s now!!!

Why would bringing in big money from all sorts because of Ronaldo be bad? im confused

I wouldn’t want a side show over what’s best for results on the pitch. I want a player to make us stronger on the pitch.

Out of curiosity if even a Goat like Ronaldo would flop for us, the fact that that we could lose Kanté next year on a free anyway and because it is completely uncertain how many matches he can play this season with his injury problems, I don't think this would be a bad idea at all. If United would accept, if Kanté would accept, if Ronaldo would accept his age and moderate basic wages (lets say 10m annual) with performance related bonuses, if we would find a replacement for Kanté and if Tuchel would approve the swap, I would support it. I know there are many if's in this sentence and this is an unpopular opinion to express in this forum, but I think from an objective point of view the arguments for it would definitely be there.

+ I think Ronaldo would fit our system better than that of United and complement our players better profilewise + the players we have that play in his best position Pulisic, Werner and CHO are chronic underperformers and even 37 year old Ronaldo is better than them right now.

+ We have many young players who could learn from him and playing 1 or 2 years with one the Goats would probably benefit them.

+ The debate about Kanté and his inconsistency based on his fitness levels lasts back to the Sarri season and eventhough I agree Kanté in topform is still our best player, the questionmark about his durability and how often he can show it got bigger over the years. With the fact in mind that last season he was just available for something like 50% of the matches or how the statistic is, we definitely have to plan around it and find a replacement anyway and we would get a high earner of our books.

+ We lack leaders on the pitch and Ronaldo definitely is one.

+ The economic value of this transfer.

+ He is a secure penaltytaker, so Jorginho doesn't have to take them anymore and make everyone anxious if he is to take an important penalty.

+ We could do without a transfer for Sterling this summer, so could save the fee we would have to pay City and maybe could get him next summer for free if we want him.

+ It could make us appear a more attractive destination for other players.

+ So Boehly can build a relationship with Jorge Mendes, Portugal is one of the countries with the most interesting talentpools of players and the best often end up with him as agent, so it would make sense for future transfers if we are interested in one of his players to have some sort of relationship to him.

In my opinion this are definitely good arguments for a transfer. Now let's look at the cons.

- We would have to say goodbye to a popular player in Kanté and send him to the sh*tshow which is Manchester United which he would strenghten if he finds his form.

- Ronaldo lacks some attributes for Tuchel's system, so we could get overall weaker, if Tuchel fails to coordinate the team with him in it right, because we would have to adapt to him in someway based on his profile.

- With the attention Ronaldo generates our matches would maybe end up to be too much the CR7 show with the media.

- Our high profile big name transfers preferably for offensive positions often end up as flops, so there is no certainty he would function for us.

Of course this is just hypothetical, but if the financial risk is low for us, I would say the pros definitely outweigh the cons in this scenario, so I would do it.

No doubt Ronaldo would come and be our top scorer but it would be to the detriment of the team. As you saw with Ronaldo last season, scored plenty of goals for Utd but as a team they were much better the year before. Hope this deal doesn't happen, stupid transfer.

Agreed. The "SIUUUUUUUUUUU" in this very thread title is extremely harsh on the eyes already as is.

Him not turning up for training, second day in a row, stating "family reasons" is exact reason we should stay clear. He is bigger than the club and United will make any excuse for him. Don't need that mate.

He is bigger than that utd SQUAD not the club, If he was like that he would of stayed, The man just wants to win stuff and has bags of goals, He's one of the better options rumoured, We need some exp in the team, If players take ronaldo wanting them to play better or pass to him more as a bad thing like spoilt kids, I see that as a good thing and it often shows up other players ala utd

Ronaldo would be quality up front until he loses a yard which i don't think he has yet

As if every other player under the sun isn't really just like Ronaldo haha

Either way it is not a good attitude to take and because of who he is, United will make excuses for him. Ziyech is on his way out, but you see him to report to training on first day back. As it stands ETH is not thinking of selling Ronaldo so he should be showing up to training.

I'm quietly impressed that he didn't say that Ronaldo with one leg would be better than pulisic tbf

That goes without saying.

Ronaldo is 37 and he's still likely to score more goals between now and the end of his career than Pulisic will between now and the end of his.

Don't want Ronaldo, not sure why as he scores goals yet his team does not do well in recent seasons.

There is a counter dynamic that he plays well yet the team does not.

I feel he is killing Portugal and should have gone some  time ago yet cowardice from the manager. He stifles the creativity of the rest of their team.

Utd were not better with Ronaldo.

Feel he is jumping ship as Ten Hag is making rules a bit like Conte did of what he expects and Ronaldo fears the worst.

Yeah I get what youre saying and i agree to a certain extent however if youre ronaldo, The best player by awards in the world, You do what you have to, To win

On talksport they were saying he never wanted to return to utd but man city didnt really want him that much and utd swooped in

He probably just wants CL footie and a good squad to play in, And i dont blame him for that, Utd as a club have been in freefall since bacon face left!
