We are told TT has control on transfers right? He dumped Tammy as he did not work hard enough as a 9, and yet Ronaldo makes him look like Drogba work rate wise.
July 4, 20224 yr Honestly of we want a number 9 that will fit in with TT style of approach, hard work, running, physicality, then we would be better off looking to get Ivan Toney.

His work rate isn't amazing but his mentality certainly is, the kind of mentality none of our current forwards have
July 4, 20224 yr 20m for Ronaldo + the revenue he would generate >>>>> 60m for Raphina regardless of wages. Raphina turning us down could turn out to be a blessing in disguise
July 4, 20224 yr Apart of me thinks this is already in the works. For him to skip training and train in Portugal pretty much shows his confidence in leaving. It just depends who he's going to.

Raphina turning us down could turn out to be a blessing in disguise I can't be the only one praying this doesn't happen. We've just endured a season with a goalscorer with a massive ego who doesn't work for the team. Ronaldo is a far superior player to Lukaku but we'll have the same issue as last season of we buy him. Raphinha was very expensive but go to a back 4 with him, sterling and havertz as a front 3 with mount in midfield would be so much better for the team than getting Ronaldo in.
July 4, 20224 yr Personally don't want him. Even though he probably will increase our goal tally, he will hinder the progress of people already at the club.
July 4, 20224 yr If he comes, then that limits the play time for Havertz, and Broja might as well leave ... neither of which is a good development in my book.

July 4, 20224 yr Embarrassing to even be linked to that transfer. Not because Ronaldo isn't a goat, but because it would be a horrendous decision. Ronaldo has scored a lot in every season, but that hasn't helped his last teams a great deal. Scoring is literally the only thing he provides at this point, and while that's something we're lacking, we'd be far worse off playing with 10 players in every other regard. A 20+ scorer doesn't guarantee you anything, Tottenham has had one of these every season (far more versatile players than today's Ronaldo as well) and still didn't get themselves into any interesting places. I don't like his character on the pitch, his impressive motivation mainly revolves around his personal performance and it's not uncommon for him to lose motivation altogether when the game doesn't go his way (he's always ready to score, but will provide even less outside of that). I don't like the influence he would command. I don't like the fee + wages he would command. I don't like the media attention he would command. This may sound extreme, but I couldn't even enjoy some absurd dream scenario in which Ronaldo signs and we win the Leage, the CL, the treble if you like. Any significant title would forever be presented as Ronaldo's achievement first Chelsea's achievement second, and thats simply not what the sport is about for me. I prefer to believe we're just being namedropped in a very unflattering way right now.
July 4, 20224 yr Not for me, it sends out the wrong message in multiple ways. - he would an untouchable instantly - goes against a hard working pressing team that Tuchel apparently wants to build - we’d have to change the way we play for him - we ain’t even creative enough to feed him TBH and don’t get the ball forward quickly enough for someone like him to thrive - the problems his wages would probably cause in the ranks - we would be actually sorting out a major headache for Man Utd by signing him from them - buying a short term fix of a player past his peak would be like going back to Shevchenko days - Kante being forced to give up the number 7 shirt (this would one of the worst moves we would of done in recent times IMO) There’s the old pro and cons when weighing up tough decisions but I’ll be genuinely shocked if anyone can think of list where the pros outweigh the cons. It’s a no from me, let’s just hope Tuchel stays strong and sees sense.
July 4, 20224 yr This seems to happen every season with us. A player at another club says they are frustrated and the media jump onto it and link them with a move to us, it never actually happens though.
July 4, 20224 yr Can’t see a role for him in the team, his egocentric orientated on pitch persona plus his age and wages seem problematic why is this even in the papers surely Bully is not that much of a mug?
July 4, 20224 yr It'll never happen, pointless even discussing it. This board is on a mission to reduce the wage bill so players like Lukaku, Werner, Kante are all in the firing line. No way will they pay the 500k a week this guy will want.
July 4, 20224 yr I agree that the cons outweigh the pros of signing a 37 year old Ronaldo but the comparisons to Lukaku are an insult to him. Even at this age he's superior in every aspect of the game and infinity times a better professional.

Never say never but the guy's 37 now. The way we're pi$$ balling about this summer he poor fcker would be 40 before we got it over the line.
July 4, 20224 yr Under no circumstances whatsoever should we even consider signing him. There is no player in top-level football so totally antithetical to the way Tuchel teams play. It would practically guarantee a season outside the Champions' League and ensure the end of Tuchel's tenure at some point in the middle of this season (after which he would be replaced with someone less good). Rank stupidity of the highest degree. It's Veron to multiple orders of magnitude. What single person who has paid even the slightest modicum of attention to Man Utd last season, or even football whatsoever, could possibly entertain even for a moment that this is an idea that warrants anything more than derisive laughter? Honestly...
July 4, 20224 yr It won't happen simply because Utd won't sell to a top 4 rival and thank god for that
