But the teams he was in had a drop in total goals scored at both teams apparently, which is a very telling stat. This is not a subtle thing where you have to be football expert to see why this happen, it is quite obvious why.

One man doesn't change everything but if you want get goals for a season, I agree with Roy Keane for once, he will get 50 for us. Take a punt, leverage his contract towards pay per goal. in the grand scheme of things he is not going to be that expensive compared to the revenue he will generate. If it don't work drop him. I would take a gamble, he is still an incredible player. Did Roy Keane really say 50 goals? Last time he scored that many goals was in 2015 (at his peak). Let’s be honest he is over the hill and his output has dropping as each year goes by. His work rate is also declining rapidly. Who could have predicted Messi would score 11 goals in all competitions last season in a league where his team is far superior, after scoring 35 goals the prior season? Knowing our luck Ronaldo will score less than 10 goals if he ends up here. There is no chance he takes a per goal pay structure, or takes a 1 year deal. He will most likely even ask for a £million loyalty bonus while he is here. Far too risky IMO to stick a 37yr old on £500k/w+ on a 2yr contract. What extra revenue will he generate? We could sell 1m jerseys with Ronaldo at the back & not see any penny of it. Nike has already paid us upfront, so any revenue generated from our kit goes back to them. Same with all our other contracts with our sponsors. And I doubt any new contract is signing up to offer us £m because we have signed a 37yr old player. Far too risky an investment

Far too risky an investment yes he did, I think he was exaggerating but you get his point. If he can get 18 for that bollox team he played in last season..... If he had the service that Havertz, Werner, Lukaku et al had last season it is not that far fetched, he knows how to put them away even in decline. Don't get me wrong he is far from my ideal signing, and no way would I sign him for more than a season but if I was in charge and there is a deal to be struck I would take a punt. just my opinion.

Far too risky an investment I kind of agree with this assessment actually. If we end up going down the route of bringing in a "poster boy" player for TB to gain maximum exposure and media uptake in the local american market then Neymar probably fits the bill better than Ronaldo, if only for the age aspect and that TT has worked with him before. It rankles with me that we might give house room to such a self absorbed over inflated, diving and cheating anathema to football as Neymar but i suppose i would rather that than be sat at SB and run the risk of Valerie sat behind me dry heaving as her gag reflex kicks in.
July 8, 20224 yr Thiago Silva works as a late 30s signing because he is still world class, and is also relatively cheap. Free transfer, one year deals, and £105K a week - less than Malang Sarr if we believe the internet sources. Plus he is not up his own arse. As for Ronaldo, well I just can't see why Boehly would be interested in a 37 year old narcissist as his "marque signing" ... it opens him up to all sorts of ridicule. Neither do I understand why TT would "approve" or "request" the signing, after the fiasco of Lukaku and his failure to adapt to TT's team tactics. Got to be a non-starter ...
July 8, 20224 yr Expensive, and with no resale value. He would undoubtedly provide some goals in short term, but I feel like this would be a vanity purchase.
