I am not opposed in a one year deal for Ronaldo. We are going through a major squad overhaul and it's a bit much to do it all in one window and expect instant results. We have brought in a combination of experience and youth which is a good thing but are still missing goals up front and a striker who can get his head on the end of balls from out wide. Ronaldo delivers that and is not a big gamble like Gordon is.

A one year contract would be a short term fix and give us time to properly assess a longer term solution.

Yes This !! ⬆️⬆️⬆️

I too would take Ronaldo over Auba if he was willing to stay humble, not force Kante to give up his number, and accept sitting on the bench and being an impact sub in a number of games.  Also give shooting lesson to the rest of the squad on Tuesday and Thursday nights, but the chances of that are basically zero, so no thanks.

Here's where I stopped reading. Stay? Humble? Ronaldo?

So, they say Cristiano Ronaldo will not be joining Napoli, as he pushes for a move to Chelsea.

.  .I have to say at this late in the day time. I'd take him over Auba.

Fucckkk it, yeah, i mean when all is said and done. It is . .. it would be a mistake of sorts. Unless he was "humble". lol.  but he is a good player.

It seems that any move to Chelsea would have to be orchestrated by Todd Boehly himself, againsT the wishes of Tuchel, which doesn’t appear to be something the American owner is ready to do.

I was thinking about Ronaldo and whether he would fit us. I think it would be one of them where he would probably get decent numbers but we would look poorer as a team. Abit like with Lukaku.

Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo is resisting a move to Napoli and hopes Chelsea will try again for him before this week's transfer deadline (Corriere dello Sport) #CFC #MUFC #Napoli #FCBayern #Atletico

I'm not sure we can actually look poorer in attack than we already are.  At least with Ronaldo we might still look poor but bang in a few more goals.

but without the decent numbers

As good as ronaldo is, he is also the kind of player to bring about a toxic backroom atmosphere. The fact that it was leaked that all the united players want him gone speaks volumes. He would just be another Lukaku waiting to happen.

agree with this. No smoke without fire and all that panderigng to the crowd body language during matches, shaking his head at the defenders mishaps etc. As laughable as Harry Maguire and McTominay may be i can see that attitude creating an atmosphere in the dressing room.

I can see almost see his face now watching as Pulisic goes on a mazy run to nowhere before being put on the weights and falling to the floor and losing the ball over, and over.......and over again

Bring the SUI merchant in. Who cares if he’s toxic, these players need something interesting going on in their lives.

Our best player is 38 soon, why not get another one in.

I'd watch him yell at our lazy players and MF for failing to put through a simple pass, as well as score some tap-ins from James' cross. We haven't been pressing well since the start of the season, could Ronaldo do worse?

I've been against Ronaldo all summer.

But given we're only a day away from a season of watching Pulisic come on off the bench in the 60th min and end any (albeit little) attacking threat we have going forward for the rest of the game like he's an Anemic Mikel I've had a change of heart.

If we don't sign another attacking player then f**k it.

Bring in Ronaldo.

CR7 one of the greatest top 10 players of all time. 1 or 2 of this generation...........and no club wants him why.  We appear to be in dire straits looking rather forlorn in the last few weeks, surely he would add something...surely.

f**k me, some of our fanbase must be getting desperate if they seriously think a 37 year old that no other top club would touch with a barge pole, would be our saviour.

Think the defeats to Leeds and Saints just show that you don't need a team packed with supposed super stars. Look at the names we are getting linked with. Ronaldo, Aubamayeng, Neymar etc. All players who sure will score goals now and again but will go missing more often than not, throw their toys out of the pram and make team morale even worse.

Would honestly rather sign a player like Toney or just give Broja a run of games. Don't want any more big name but over the hill, short sighted signings just to give some of our fanbase a brief hard-on!!
