Marc Cucurella

Got no choice, Cucurella got himself suspended.

That is two players already that have been suspended for picking up too many yellow cards. I think it took Jackson 5 games. Add James and Pochettino, and we are up to 4 already.

Defence will raise some eyebrows against Brighton. Disasi RB, Silva CB, Badiashile CB and Colwill LB.

Nah will be Gusto in for James, Disasi for Badiashile and Colwill for Cucurella imo.

Is Gusto fit? Wasn't involved today. I thought he had a knee injury.

I think he will be by next weekend. Was touch and go for today I believe.

Yes. Sounds about right. It wasn't expected to be more than a game missed.

One of a handful of players that is a bench player at best. He gives his all, but his positional play is weak and exploited every week. When do we learn?

Until Chilwell is fit, Colwill should be playing left back for me.

It is bizzare that anyone can rate Cucu over Chilwell.

Cucu is what you called a specialist. It is very rare to find Cucu type in PL. A small fb that is not particularly athletic is almost unheard of.

So to get the best out of player like cucu, you need to play very specific football (tuchel ball is one of them).

Cucu has been a liability.. poor reader of the game and hence he gets caught out of position .. nothing attackingly, can’t defend aerially can’t put in a tackle has little pace..

We keep asking week in week out on how we could ever spend so much money on him.. surely someone who ups have seen him play and seen the obvious..

how can he play the player on-site while looking across the line is lunacy..

Play one good game once in a while, then remind us his true quality with a couple of shockers straight away. Either Colwill or Masten plays LB next weekend.

Colwill I suspect. Maatsen doesn't seem to have much of a lookin right now and certainly not at LB

Surprised how badly Maatsen's been treated this season, he was one of Burnley's best players last season.

That might not sound like much, but Reece James, Tomori, Mount and Abraham all came straight from Championship loans and did well for us. Maatsen isn't even being given a chance.

He's not good enough defensively for LB but also doesn't offer enough going forward to play in the front line.

According to my Burnley supporting friend he made a lot of basic defensive mistakes last season and that was for the most dominant second tier team of all time with 70 plus possesion most games.

He could have played a part had we still played with wingbacks but that seems to be a thing of the past now.

I suspect that's the case, although how bad would Mattsen be for not getting game at LB? At least he could offer a bit of attacking threat

It isn't bizarre in the slightest.

If you want a wingback who makes good runs, you pick Chilwell. If you want a left back that is good in the first phase of the build up and allows the LW more freedom to roam, you pick Cucurella.

Both are tragic defensively.

😱😱😱

It is like saying if I want a winger who can make run behind I take Pedro, if I want a winger who want the ball on his feet, I want Hazard.

Was willing to cut him some slack due to being new and I liked his aggressiveness but he’s a just a headbanger. Way too rash with everything and I don’t see that changing, he’s gonna continue to cost the team goals and needs to be gotten rid of.

No, it isn’t. We are talking 2 defenders that offer different levels of influence despite both being poor in actually defending.

No, if cucu is not a short cb who has horrible one on one defensive technique, no dribbling and not athletic you have a case but it is not even close.

Chilwell when at full back lacks complete understanding in the first phase of build up (looking forward to you pretending not knowing what this means again), has poor tackling and defensive metrics as a full back, was carried by Rudiger for his non existent defensive contributions at LWB, and doesn't have the dribbling ability to beat a man when in attacking positions playing at LWB or wing.

Sorry. Not going to get caught in your Chilwell agenda. Both are poor.

From hero to zero, that's just how this forum has been for the last couple of seasons in all threads/players/games...

The hero shouts were fugazi. He's always been ass for us outside of a handful of games.

We have absolutely zero clue how he would do at LB for Chelsea or even in the Prem though.

Crazy of Poch not to give him a run out there and see how he does as we've already tried three other players with little luck. Lyon fans said the exact same about Gusto before we signed him and he's turned out alright so far.

Very surprised if Poch hasn't tested him out in training.
