All Saka needed was that one moment to loose Marc, then boom top cross, 2-2, all that hard work means nothing. Sakas one moment is all that will be remembered, not the many times Marc dealt with him

 It's impossible to stop every single cross, and that wasn't even a cross from the by-line for a tap in. A number of defenders could have intercepted the cross, the worst was Gusto. Cucurella done more than what most could asked for, the real let down  was our GK pretend to be a number 10 playing from his own box

To be fair the person at fault was madueke. Cucurella had to cover Ben Whites overlapping run but madueke did a terrible job of pressuring the cross, he just non chanantly stuck a leg out. It makes no sense why we brought on madueke, I feel maatsen would have been a more sensible choice.  

Saka must have hated playing against him yesterday. Cucurella was always at his heels, always pressing and generally didn't give him a second to work.
Pretty much looked like the Brighton version of himself again and long may that continue.

It went under the radar due to how poor the overall performance was but he pocketed Saka in this fixture last season aswell.

Fair play to him, and fair play to Poch, because he's looking like a new signing. I don't know what the hell happened but if he keeps this up i can't see anyone taking his spot in the first 11.

Always felt he was harshly treated last season given the things he went through both personally and professionally all whilst the team was struggling. The Cucu we saw at Brighton was a fantastic player and im happy to see him regain some of the form

Quality game from him, fair play to him for bouncing back after last season's well below par performances. If he can carry on playing like that on a regular basis it'll be hard for Chilwell to get back into the team or for Poch to justify putting Colwill at LB

He was glued to Saka. Think with the restricted options Arsenal had in midfield Saka couldn't really do anything. It was a very good tactical plan. 

That being said, we are going to be lacking in aerial dominance with both Cucurella and Gusto in the team.

I wondered if the aerial thing is why Poch brought on Reece just after Arsenal subbed Havertz on. He's decent in the air and at least attackers the ball at the back post, where Gusto is much more passive.

Think Lesley should've came on over James. Keep Sterling on and kept the shape. 

The James at RW looked like it threw everyone off. 

It's helping him that the defence is playing a lot tighter. Between defence and midfield last season, it was so open. The last 4 games we have shifted tactics, probably the biggest shift in a long time, and it has helped the likes of Cucurella. I just wish it came sooner because we really needed those early results with the run of games we have now.

Possibly, but if you biggest concern is dealing with balls in the air then Disasi would surley have been the best choice.

 Other true, it could easily be he brought James on to give him game time after an injury .

I was thinking the same. While it was a boost to see Reece return we looked a bit gassed in midfield at that point (understandably given that 2 of our 3 had also returned from A. America midweek). Lesley would have been a good option to try and lock down the mid a bit.

Agreed on the lack of aerial dominance but we have other options against teams where that might be an issue. I think after the last few games Cucurella should be starting at LB most games. Good to have a solid option while Chilwell is out. Especially given his injury record.

Him and Caicedo had long travels and games on national duty. Ideally you bring on a Lavia and a Lesely to replace them but the game was too balanced, Poch did not want to risk it without Lavia.

Lavia is still injured no? Lesley has done fine coming on as sub before. he did so in a fine balanced game against Liverpool and I think he would have been ok. We should have Carney available on the bench in the next couple of weeks so that will be a good boost in midfield. I doubt we will see Lavia until December, with Nkunku returning in January most likely.

Agreed, I more meant had he been an option maybe Pochettino would have changed in midfield. I am not sure why Lesley was not trusted here. The subs were strange.

I think the by far the biggest factor why cucu looked better was Saka didn't look right. Maybe he was not fully match fit. 

If him starting means Colwill can continue at CB then I'm at peace with it.
