Marc Cucurella

If we insert a Obligation to Buy based on x amount of performances I think this is a win.

If it’s just a 2-7M fee + wages seems a strange one on our behalf.

However… Cucurella lining up next to Maguire could be absolute gold.

Hard to see what’s really in this for us.

Maatsen's road to the side opens up. I really support this move. I have seen absolutely nothing to support the idea he rips it up at MU. I think he is not a good footballer. Physically he is a top athlete or there abouts. Otherwise he is just a body. A body we paid wayyy too much of.

United are desperate. I would be disappointed if we don't have some sort of obligation to buy inserted in this deal.

So peeps question l, if he goes and totally bosses it would you want him back or for him to still get sold on the basis of his performances for us?

I'm pretty sure that he could not even boss his wife and kids, let alone Premier league forwards. Can you imagine how much Bloom and his Directors are laughing at Brighton ???

I don't see much points of this, unless there's a obligation buy clause. He will come back a year older, not much better or wiser next season, then what?

We have the useless tw*t on our books for at least the next seven years !! nobody is going to buy him or pay his wages for more than a season.

Hahaha

We will need 9 million pounds on loan just to cover his wages.  I would be happy to see him out on loan this year.

He and Maguire can be a keystone cops pairing on the left side.

The loan fee is additional to them paying his wages

That is not how FFP works. If he goes out on loan, with UTD paying his wages, then his wages are off our books for the season.

His Transfer fee is still an issue though. Roughly:

Transfer fee: £55m

Length of contract: 6 years

FFP cost of transfer fee per year: £9.2m per year.

So a loan fee, of say £2m - would see us register a FFP loss of £7.2m on his book value for the season, but we will save around £9m per year on his salary. This is vastly preferable to the option of keeping him as backup, which would cost us the full book value of his transfer for the season PLUS his wages - so overall £18.2m (ish) per season.

Quietly hope he does well there and proves his doubters wrong.

He was good at Brighton and remember him being the best player on the pitch against us.

Memories are often conveniently short in football.

He also had at least one MOTM performance for us before he went to sh*t (possibly Everton away?), and he was quite good on another game (I think Spurs he was quite good).

In my opinion, everyone can be given a pass for last season. Especially those who had last season as their first with us.

We were an absolute shambles.

Yup on here we are often so quick to right off players without looking at other cirumstances and the environment they are in. The next couple of years could be a bumpy ride with most of the squad on 8 year contracts. 😅

The best we can hope for is that he does well and we want to keep him or Utd offer us something we can't refuse.
