Because of the media narrative that any issues at Chelsea are always deep rooted club problems and the players/managers are innocent bystanders, it's been going on ever since Spurs fell for it with AVB, you'd think they'd all learn by now.

If United are to loan him we should make it so:

1. They cover 100% of their wages.

2. They pay a sizeable loan fee, say 7mill pounds.

3. There is an option, that turns in to an obligation, to buy built in so if certain conditions they have to buy him for say 33mill.

So Maatsan will be cover for Chilwell with this plan? Makes sense, although I think the quality of our squad is a little lean now.

Agreed. United are desperate here though and we need to make dealbthat suits us. Like we did with Lewis Hall. We helped Newcastle out but still get the fee we want next summer. If we agree a loan with obligation to buy then that is fine. 

If he goes there just for wages only we will have done a poor deal imo.

They won't be interested in anything else. They just want a stop gap and are shopping around wildly.  We will have to either take it or leave it I suspect. Can see them get Reguilon. Cheapest and simplest loaner by the look of it.

Maybe it's a little unfair to judge Cucurella after a poor season last season. Sterling was not good last season either, but seems to have revived himself. If we let Cucurella leave then we don't have LB back up. Chilwell will likely not stay fit all season, so not sure what we should do tbh. Can we rely on Maatsen?

Maatsen is ahead of Cucurella as a LB option anyway. Arguably Colwill and Biadiashile too.

Maatsen can cover for other areas as well. Cucurella can't even do the job he should be doing. He just can't defend. With Marcos Alonso that was okay as he scored goals. I don't see Cucu doing a job for us.

I’m not sure - Maatsen didn’t play there once during pre season.

Imo maatsen should be chilwells back up, and cucu can be used if we play back 4 and chilwell is out. Need maatsen to sign a new contract don’t we before we let cucu go either way?
