Cesare Casadei

True. It's not his go. He doesn't impose himself, the game seems to pass him by. He's tall but not overly strong, pushed off the ball too often. Much happier forward, he comes alive. Sconnie calls him a striker. He has the skills, not sure about the strength. By which I mean the player not Sconnie. I'm sure Sconnie is skilful and strong.

That might suggest we will not spend on a striker this window.............

As cover for Gallagher seems logical.  For all the energy of Gallagher and all his enthusiasm for the game and his commitment to his teammates and the fact that he grew up supporting the club, etc. For all of this, Gallagher still lacks end product. That is goals. Gallagher cannot score in the proverbial.

For example, IF we had had a fit Mason Mount playing for us this season in the 'Gallagher' position, then we would have had a few more goals.  We would have had 'end product'.  Enzo is not Fabregas and he needs to play deeper.  Caicedo is [apparently] a gifted DM, still waiting to see that, but the jury is still out on him.  Gallagher just cannot score goals.  Sad, but true.  For all his efforts he is no better than Kovacic. Palmer is not suited to the 'Gallagher' position, he just does not have that energy.  And so here we are. . . Butch Casadei - maybe he is the balance we need?

Casadei is good in the air. But he faces a ton of completion for an 8 or 10 spot. Palmer, Enzo chukwumeka, Gallagher all fit now plus nkunku maybe.

Strange move, he’s been pretty poor at Leicester supposedly.

I wouldn't say that he was poor but he didn't stand out. He is an aerial threat in the box but for me he seemed to lack pace in general.  I think the speed of the English game is something he will need to adapt to.

Overall I liked him & I'm sorry to see him go.

Thanks for the feedback. I suspected he couldn't have been that poor based on the decent amount of playing time he got. From what I saw of him in pre-season he has a lot of potential, but I agree he does look slow on the ball at times.

I expect him to do well for you & it will be good to see get some Premier League experience . He was steadily improving at Leicester & getting more game time every week.  I hope he gets a chance ...

Not a good sign for Casadei, knocked back to a team in the lower tier, now expect to fight for a spot at Chelsea? We are pretty stacked in that area, even with 1 or 2 long term injuries.

Maybe he's been recalled to be a make weight in a player plus cash deal for Osimhen ?

Osimhen comes in the summer, and they get Casadei now ?

It's a strange recall for sure ...

Will see if Poch uses him (ha ha). Maybe our new foxes friend has heard if there is any truth they planned to sign a new midfielder so pulled the plug on his loan.

I checked whoscored ratings on Casadei in Leicester and Championship vs our midfielders. Only Ugowchugwu's rating is lower than Casadeis throughout the season.

Casadei has played one game higher up the pitch and done well with over 7.0 rating but lower down the pitch he is about 6.5.

That would suggest he should play higher up the pitch where Chukwuemeka should play when he comes back.

If Leicester didn't want him to go it is pretty weird we called him back...

Quote this, he'll do far more in his career for club & country.

Italy's National team is horrendous with little coming through so might get games for them. RLC had more talent in his little toe though.

Our Italian manager Enzo Maresca appeared to really like him & he was being used on a regular basis as a sub and had started the last few games. He was improving & adapting to Championship football & will be missed. We are in the process of signing midfielder Stefano Sensi from Inter but I don't think we returned him because of that.

My understanding is that it was a recall  & not a return.

Blows my mind that Championship clubs can poach players from clubs like Milan these days, English football is so far ahead of every other country financially now.

Now that even Carney can’t get on the pitch, I fear we’ve done exactly the same to Casadei as we did to Ake. Recalling from a successfull loan only to have him warm our bench for the rest of the season is silly, as it will stunt his development. Especially with him being cuptied and us not having much to play for in the league.
Unless of course, he can rotate with Enzo/Caicedo for the deeper positions?

That's not his go. Neither strong nor physical enough for his size at the moment. Saw him brushed aside too often at Leicester. Currently, he's better further forward.
