January 19, 20242 yr Seems we are recalling him to take a first team spot which is crazy considering he was just starting to get a run of games. A replacement for Gallagher? Can’t see the logic even if we assume we are selling Gallagher, we already have Lavia, Ugochukwu, Santos & Chukwuemeka as options to the £100m pair.
January 19, 20242 yr I guess this could be for one (or a combination) of a few reasons: 1) Gallagher is going. Would be very sad if this is the case 2) One or both of Ugochukwu/Lavia are going to be out for a long time and we want reinforcement - this very well could be the case, though I've thought of Casadei as a more attacking player than either of those two 3) We've identified the need for a midfielder who can win a header or two, and as a bonus he seems to have an eye for goal 4) Maybe Leicester are about to sign someone in his position? We've seen before how clubs prioritize their own players over loanees, and they're in a comfortable enough spot in the league to afford a slight drop in quality from a rotation CM if the incoming player is a bit behind Cesare in their development. 5) Loan rules/limits? I'm not sure what restrictions are imposed on domestic loans but if we're envisioning sending Santos back out on loan later in the season maybe we need to open up a space? I liked a lot of what I saw from Casadei in pre-season, he's obviously raw, but so is most of our squad. I just hope that if he does get recalled we don't waste half a season by just having him sit on the bench a couple times and play dev squad games. I know he wasn't first on the teamsheet for Leicester but he's had 25 apps, adding up to over 1100 minutes, producing 3 goals and 2 assists... for context Mudryk's played fewer minutes this season.

January 19, 20242 yr He was pretty decent at Reading, and he done well at Leicester. Lots of potential in this lad, far more than RLC.

January 19, 20242 yr It’s going to be very frustrating if he returns and plays 175 minutes the remainder of the season. Especially when he’s been playing and featuring regularly at Leicester. I understood recalling Audrey since NFFC basically said flat out that they weren’t gonna play him. But Cesare was actually playing a good amount. I’m hearing he’s going to join the first team, I’m just reluctant to be excited about this given my lack of understanding anything the club is doing atm.

January 19, 20242 yr To be honest it's not like any of our midfielders bar Connor have been good so far this season so I wouldn't be against given him a chance. He's tall and wins headers, which is probably a big bonus for Poch considering his complaint regarding squad height.

I can only assume Chukwuemeka and Nkunku struggle to get back to fitness, in which case it makes sense to bring him back. Hoping we’re not doing another Ake recall, though!
January 19, 20242 yr Since we initiated the recall, I would say it is most likely that we need more cover in midfield. Leicester were giving him a decent amount of minutes so I doubt the decision was over the quality of the loan. Suggests that Lesley and Lavia will be out longer than anticipated. Chukwuemeka has only just returned from a long injury and will likely be given playing time cautiously. Even assuming Conor is not sold, I'd say Casadei will get a fair amount of opportunity to play for the first team the remainder of this season.
January 20, 20242 yr Probably need more depth, and height! We don’t know how severe Enzo’s issue is, although he is playing once again. I’m ok with the recall as it’s good to have options.

Let’s see how it plays, not convinced it’s the right decision. He has struggled when played deeper at Leicester, and if we needed someone to play deeper Andre Santos is ideal for the role. Pulling him when he has just started getting regular mins at a club fighting for automatic promotion/league time to come and scrap for mins here with no European football at his age is just odd.
January 20, 20242 yr One good thing ... at least we seem to be writing recall clauses into our loan agreements now !

True. It's not his go. He doesn't impose himself, the game seems to pass him by. He's tall but not overly strong, pushed off the ball too often. Much happier forward, he comes alive. Sconnie calls him a striker. He has the skills, not sure about the strength. By which I mean the player not Sconnie. I'm sure Sconnie is skilful and strong.
