Still think he’s a ST disguising as a CM

think he's a gonner... rumours are he's been offered as part swap for Osmineh. which says a lot considering the guy who signed him from us last year on loan is now our manager and it appears doesnt want to work with him this year.

The manager didn't rate him highly either. A bench player until injuries brought him into the team. One of our Leicester visitors mentioned that he lacks speed, which, having seen him at Leicester, is arguably true. I think he also lacks strength. A tall lad but not strong.

He was a perfectly legitimate signing at the time. Best player by a mile at the U20 WC. Won the Golden Ball and Golden Boot. Which, if he doesn't ultimately make it, speaks to the gap between U20 and senior football.

I watch Mudryk game in u-21 last season and he was destroying everyone. He could knock ball past player and did all kind of skill stuff as if he is a superstar.

But we have seen none of those stuff works in PL.

Mudryk speed is elite even in PL level but when u-21 defenders body or put their hand on him, he can still do his move and brush them away. In PL, you can see they can force his touch to be very loose and stop his run by putting their hand on him.

More rumours based on what? That rumour includes Lukaku in the mix based on Conte's rumoured interest in reuniting with Lukaku. Rumours, not worth the wear and tear on an internet modem. In reality, I suspect Chelsea have moved  on from Osimhen if they were even interested in the first place. Their recent striker signings would suggest so.

At this point there seem to be no takers at all for Osimhen. The ridiculous price tag the obvious reason.

Your suspicion is based on what? this forum isn't worth the wear and tear of the internet if we apply your logic to it... I'd be delighted to exchange Lukaku, Casadei for Osimhen... We signed Washington last year and he was world class at warming the bench, Im sure many of our new signings will also be worldies at watching Chelsea play from the fringes.

I think we can safely ignore all rumours involving player who probably will ask 150+ salary.

Did well in the deepest midfield role yesterday. Dont think he’s a serious option there in the PL but in the group stage of the Conference he’ll might be a rotational option to properly give Enzo/Caicedo some rest

Yeah he was bullying them. Could do well against Conference League opposition.

Much more impressive than KDH alongside him. We could certainly do with one of them really kicking on, as they are probably the only players currently in the squad that have "midfield goal threat" in their DNA ... and I think we need that ! Santos on loan at Strasbourg is another one that could offer that of course ... and maybe even Chukwuemeka if played as a CM rather than a #10 ?

He just looks so calm and smooth on the ball, never seems flustered, just very classy. Whether he has what it takes to bring that into a premier league game where the speed is 10 fold is the big question.

Good question. I like him, I'd like him to succeed, but I don't think he's yet quick enough (in thought and on his feet) or strong enough for PL level. I watched him at Leicester, when Maresca finally started him, and he was too easily bullied off the ball. He did his best work using his height and skill around the box.

Now though he is 1 year older and more experienced. I would love to see him given a few more minutes but sadly we bought KDH

I don't get KDH either, a good Championship player. Casadei will get minutes in Cup games like last night. It's up to him to step up.

He got pushed off a few times last night, but equally he outfought a few too. His lack of aggression may hold him back too, we need Wisey to do some one on one "utter bastard" training.

Yeah....with VAR I doubt Wisey, or Vinnie, would get away with the stuff we love them for these days.

The club has taken him to spotlight over this Gent game. I think it is a great chance for him to show his talent. Would be lovely if he plays as an 8 instead of 6. Hopefully Lavia could do that in this game.

We have to remember he is one of the top talents in the world from 2 years ago. He was a bigger talent in the eyes of the world than Palmer and Madueke. There is a player there. Enzo being italian can't be too bad for his development.

Here is the presser of him:

Very lovely chap and you cannot help but feel he could overtake Kiernan and probably even Enzo at some point in the future if we put trust in him and his development is good.

Classes above at the U20 WC which made for his reputation. His problem has been stepping up to the tempo and hurly burly at senior level. Maresca had him at Leicester but wasn't starting him until injuries forced his hand. Even then he was better forward than in midfield where he was too easily brushed aside. I hope he makes it, I really do.

Didn't impress last night. Looked a bit lost wasn't assured in possession.  He also looked like he could be dispossesed on a few occasions.

Maybe Maresca can help this.

I thought he showed well for the ball, didn't hide. The issue was sometimes he held onto it a little too long. It's fine against weaker teams like Gent but in the prem he could lose possession and we would get punished.

I thought he linked up play nicely at the very least. He's a tad over 6'1" and just a tad over 12 stone and not blessed with speed. I fear the hurly burly of better teams will find him out. He'd be a hit in Serie A.

Disagree.

Started slow but was always making himself available under pressure, played tidy passes, would like to see him take a bit more risks as he's got the strength and dribbling to do so but understandable he would keep things safe in his first start.

He did fade towards the end but you could tell he was gassed, couldn't even run back properly on the last goal they scored. Overall a solid 6 or 7 out of 10.

Yeah I don’t think he’s anywhere near good enough to be considered for first team just yet.

Personally I don’t really see what he offers, last night was his chance to really show the world what he is all about but he played really conservative and safe.

I think he needs a loan.

What Maresca said after the game :

Cesare played very good against Barrow and even better tonight. I am very happy with the way he is playing. I had Cesare last year and he was playing a little bit in different position.

This year, we are using him like a holding midfielder. The reason why is because I think we go in the direction where the middle you need physical players. Cesare is very big, physically strong and helps us when we want to press.

On the ball, he is improving a lot. Tonight he played one touch, so we are very happy. For him, it’s the same as the rest; many things he can do better but he is in the right direction.”

Interesting comments in general about football going in the direction of physical players in midfield.

Cannot for the life of me see how Casadei, Dewsbury-Hall or Felix are getting minutes ahead of Carney.

Not saying they are particularly bad players, they're not. But Carney has such an incredibly high ceiling and on the whole has done really well whenever he has been given time on the pitch. Not sure what more he could do.
