Cesare Casadei

Featured Replies

Always rated him. Hope he gets his chance next season - offers a lot as an attacking midfielder, and think he has a higher ceiling than some of our current options. Him and Carney could be quite good options in time!

Seriously underwhelming last night v Leeds, subbed after 66 minutes. Leicester, overall, were underwhelming, they didn't cope with Leeds' aggression and pressing. Casadei struggled, looking lightweight, outmuscled in one-on-ones and reduced to drifting around pretty aimlessly. He definitely needs to work on his strength.

Getting hammered for last nights performance for Leicester as well. He's nearly 21 so if he can't shine for the dominant side in the Championship at that age then thats not a great sign for his chances here for the future.

Same problem. No physicality, can't impose himself.

Is he the new Lucas Piazon?!!

I don't know if he's the new anyone but he's shaping as one of those stars at U21 level who is struggling with the intensity at senior level.

Some comments from Leicester Fans.

I'm not really sure what his attributes are.

He isn't technical, he hasn't got the speed of thought to know what's around him, takes too long to sort his feet out, isn't particularly mobile, and isn't getting in the box enough or breaking past our front players. He's a big lad for a midfielder but isn't particularly physical either.

Aside from a couple of decent runs against Sunderland, I can't think of any other real positive contributions to a game, or left a game thinking that there are areas where he has at least shown some potential to grow into the role.

You wonder how he was so dominant at u20 level.

Think we need another midfielder. He's miles off it.

Lets face it.

He aint no pirlo.

In fact hes more of a sh*tio

I'm surprised Enzo was keen to sign him, he isn't the type of player he wants in midfield. He just seems overly confused all the time about where he is supposed to be

Quote

He really isn't very good. He's slow cumbersome and looks lost half the time, completely incapable of having any real influence or impact on a game.  If he's picked to start on saturday questions should be asked.

The only attribute I think he has is he's decent in the air. If you watch him he does win the majority of his headers.

But yeah otherwise he's dreadful.

From what I've seen he does one thing well, and that's attack the box. If you watch him he does take up some good positions.

He's not actually good at anything else.

Total waste of a position for us - Often more of a hindrance than a help!

Going to be interesting whether they continue Casadei's development in midfield. By all accounts it sounds like a striker playing in midfield.

Definitely needs another championship loan next season, end of the day he's played 30 games of men's football, not to mention his entire youth career was spent in another country.

I've watched him as much as possible with Leicester. Looks much more comfortable around the box. Whether that's enough is another matter.

I had huge hopes for him and I’m still hopeful.

I think a season loan in Scotland would do him the world of good. Lower level than the Championship for sure but he’s going to need his confidence building if the rest of the season is like the last few months.

Maddison really developed as a player when he was on loan at Aberdeen. He arrived a young boy and left a man. Could be just what he needs.

Queue the disparaging comments about Scottish football….. 😀

Sounds like the second coming of RLC.

Most of the personnel this ownership has focussed on bringing in are not at ready level yet.

I don't really want to sound like a broken record but they have gotten the recruitment strategy and focus for the profile of club, and money spent totally mismatched.

I think most of these big money loanees; your Casadei, Santos, Washington, Angelo etc should have been bought for Strasbourg. They would have been way cheaper buys (half the price or more) if “Chelsea” wasn’t attached to them, and been playing regularly in a competitive league. The £100m-£200m we have spent on them could have been used to buy a couple of key players ready to contribute.

This is a pretty similar overview to what Leicester fans have said to me about Casadei when I've asked. I would say the main responses are:

1) He's too slow
2) He doesn't look like a midfielder
3) He's big
4) Does get in the box though

Sadly I have been either laughed or sneered at when I pushed my 'new Poyet' agenda.

That's where he seems most comfortable. In midfield, (1) is certainly a problem and, for his size, he can be too easily overpowered. Outstanding at U21 level, he's finding the step up hard going. The unknown is how much support and coaching he's getting.

Enzo Manesca is a young Italian manager who is highly rated and used to manage Man City’s youth team. I think the level of coaching and support he is getting is unquestionable.

Fair enough.
