So our game plus Spurs vs Leicester and Brentford vs Arsenal are at big risk of being postponed because of this. Talks are underway about it, with suggestions to switch the away side to be at home, however the would still leave Brentford and Arsenal up sh*t creak without a paddle. Liverpool and Leicester are very reluctant to accept this idea as well as making plans on short notice is also a hard ask. The other 6 games should go ahead as planned. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2022/9/10/23346251/concerns-over-staging-next-weekends-premier-league-matches-in-london-as-well " But as The Athletic’s report details, the three that are set to take place in London on Saturday and Sunday (Spurs v Leicester, Brentford v Arsenal, Chelsea v Liverpool) have very little logistical chance of happening. Evidently, discussions are even taking place about switching home and away teams, and playing the reverse fixtures now instead, but doing something like that presents all sorts of different and equally difficult challenges — staffing, sporting, scheduling, etc. And in the case of Brentord v Arsenal, the reverse fixture would also be in London, so that doesn’t help." I f**king hope we don’t have to go to Liverpool for the game! I’m coming back from a conference on Saturday afternoon and I wouldn’t be very happy if I had to travel to Liverpool on Sunday. Also, it doesn’t make sense as the number of away fans is much lower than those that have got a ticket for the Bridge, how do they decide which fans go to Anfield and who don’t?

Easily solved by bringing all the games into Saturdays fixtures at 3pm and 5pm, 48 hours before the funeral.

I no from experience that the military has plenty of trained bods sat around not doing very much, it's 100% logistically possible. I think football will go ahead next weekend regardless.

The only problem with this solution which I actually think is viable, is hotel costs travel money already paid by fans etc, all this does is hit the fans again, so many people lost a ton of money this weekend, simply because most bookings are not refundable.

But that will happen either way if you cancel Sundays game to another day.

Liverpool are against it anyway, as are mersyside police as Everton are at home the same day and, given how close the grounds are that is understandable.
September 12, 20223 yr The Premier League's schedule is set to return to normal for this weekend, though there are doubts over Chelsea's game against Liverpool on Sunday.

Could it end up like Rangers game? No away fans allowed and then our away fans blocked for the return game for "sporting fairness" ?
September 12, 20223 yr Well, Quote Arsenal's Europa League tie with PSV Eindhoven (Thursday) has been postponed because of "severe limitations on police resources" following the death of Queen Elizabeth II. That doesn't bode well for the three London staged PL fixtures on the Sunday. How many coppers do the Met have? 30?
September 12, 20223 yr I can't see the game going ahead Green Park is where everyone is laying flowers nearest mainline station Victoria I can't see the old bill allowing football fans to mix with not sure of the word to use mourners will do. The Queen's body will be lying in state at Westminster Hall Westminster station which is on the circle and district lines although that could be closed. The numbers who will go will be apparently in the millions plus no work the following day. Plus having Scousers in town who no doubt will sing anti monarchy songs will cause trouble that the police could do without. As a betting man I would say it's odds on the game won't go ahead this is probably the Met's biggest operation ever even though it's basically crowd control and queue supervising.

September 12, 20223 yr Thursday night's UEFA Europa League fixture between Arsenal and PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium has been postponed.

Yes Thursday is the first of 4 days, up to and including Sunday, where the Queens body is in London and able to be viewed by the public. The police will be on duty for the large crowds expected, and with the threat of terrorism will have their hands full. I would not be surprised if the 3 London games at Spurs, Brentford and the Bridge are called off. Their are no cops available for the games. I think the only way the get played is behind closed doors.
September 12, 20223 yr Looking forward to that awkward week where we have a match Saturday, Tuesday, and Thursday, Sunday.

September 12, 20223 yr It was utter wink not having EPL games over the weekend, but under our current managerial status it must of been a big plus for GP to have 5 days prep for the CL on weds and now if this one gets postponed he'll get until the end of the month until we play Palace (international break aside).
September 12, 20223 yr It's officially postponed now. Other matches postponed are ManU v Leeds and BHA v Palace, while the other London teams play in London, WTF?! Edited September 12, 20223 yr by RMH

September 12, 20223 yr Everyone had to go to work the day after the Queen died but apparently we can't have football games anymore becuase the country's too sad. Makes sense
