June 20, 20233 yr Brighton will find a way to screw us over again. As much as I like the player, getting a reasonable deal with them is almost impossible. We may have to look into Levia or whoever else out there, just not putting the eggs into their basket.

June 21, 20233 yr Aurelien Tchouameni as the Caicedo alternative? - Real Madrid do not wish to sell but recovering the money spent last year would go a long way towards topping up the Mbappe pot. Chelsea were blocked from completing negotiations for the player last season and he would be their first choice if available as they seek two such players for this summer. Real Madrid has spoken to with Chelsea about him...AND as much as I think Caicedo is a decent player is he worth the same as Tchouameni?

June 21, 20233 yr get as much sales sorted before June 30th as possible, and then we can focus on the rest of the sales and making a few signings July 1st onwards

June 22, 20233 yr We've got to get this done asap. If Man City end up taking Rice (Making a bid today) then Arsenal will be back in for Caicedo. Edited June 22, 20233 yr by Luca Vialli
June 22, 20233 yr Yep, clearing out is all good and well but we need to land our targets for the summer to be a success. Rice and Ugarte are already gone for us, if we lose out on Caicedo as well then that's bad.

Coupled with the fact that, at heart, Eden loved playing football but it wasn't a passion, a be-all-and-end-all. His life away from the pitch, his family, were always more important. Never a great trainer, not one for a diet, he got by on his sublime natural skills. Good on the fella.
June 22, 20233 yr I think we better get a move on with this one because the team that doesn’t get Declan Rice are gonna be on the hunt. I just hope we are not deliberately stalling until July just to have it show on next year’s account for FFP purposes. In the next week I think a Champions League team offering Caicedo similar terms to us would probably swing it in their favour, especially if we plan to hold off until July.
June 22, 20233 yr Hate the term but we've already done a lot of the 'ground work' that Arsenal still have to make up should they revert back to Caicedo.

I'd like to hope a player won't be so short-sighted to make a decision based on what could be six games.

I mean this is genuinely the same scenario as Kante back in 2016 when he had to decide between Arsenal who had Champions League football and us who didn't have any European football.
