And the talk now is that Brighton "expect" a fee comparable to what Arse are paying for Declan Rice !!!!!

I really hope we give that a wide swerve ...

If Brighton were a person, they'd be ready to retire with their entire family on the money we've already thrown at them.

if this is true it’s insane. Need to just walk away from Brighton.
Caicedo was very naive signing that new contract with a verbal assurance that he could leave in the summer. Just means Brighton can put up the fee to a ridiculous number which no one will meet.

See how Brighton like having a star player on the books who doesn’t not want to be there. Maybe they’ll be easier to talk to in last week of window.

As it stand we really need to walk away.

They'd be stupid to.

They'll have a hard time pulling similar levels of talent if they're known to go back on their word/take the p**s. I'd imagine a lot of the 'pull' that they have is based on how well they develop players and move them on to big clubs at a sensible profit.

People need to come to terms that Brighton are risking pissing off Caicedo for a 2nd time. They prevented him a move in January to Arsenal in order to secure European football. They gave him an extension and part of that extension came with a gentleman's agreement that they will let him go in the summer for a reasonable price. Excess of 100m isn't reasonable. City and Bayern are the only 2 other clubs that could afford him but they have prioritizations elsewhere (Gvardiol & Kane) so we really are far ahead in the queue. If we pull out Brighton risk having a pissed off player that was lied to and was prevented a big club move again.

They are turning the deal from Caicedo to Cashedo.

Don't think he is worth the prices asked for.

I know they are not at his level but we have Hall, Santos and Casadei. 18 months ago nobody would have said Caicedo is a 100mill player. Maybe Pochettino makes those 3 look like 100mill players over 18 months and saves us a packet.

Caicedo will cost 85m.

Don't think he is worth that tbh.

He's not, but that is what is quoted and what we've agreed (75m + 10 bonuses).

Tonali was the next best option and he's off to Newcastle so this needs to get done.

55mill for Tonali right?

Now given Caicedo was a nothing player 18 months ago why can we not make Santos, Casadei or someone like them as good as Caicedo? Is Pochettino speciality right? Why do we need to go cap in hand to Brighton again?

Pochettino made Deli Alli look world class for goodness sake.

Well neither of them are no where near as good defensively. Caicedo fills a massive void in our midfield with his presence.

Said for a long time that I don't see it happening.

A month ago everyone was talking about Ugarte like he was a Chelsea player and its been similar with Caicedo and Lavia. We are prob not getting any of them.

Being quoted on Absolute Chelsea 100m now. If so, this won't happen.

Agree with this. Far to often people treat these as done deals when in reality they are nowhere near.

Sucks for Brighton then given their best player will be pissed the f**k off.

Maybe the United Qatari money will save them.

Either way let's move on.

Lesson to a Footballer on having a smart agent.

Mc Alllisters agent gets minimum fee inserted in his deal. Goes for total package of 55mill.

Caicedo agent gets no minimum fee, so Brighton want a Declan Rice sized deal.

The problem is that we cannot go into next season with the midfield that we have, it's nowhere near good enough. Enzo is literally the only one good enough right now. Casadei isn't there yet, neither is Santos or Chukwuemeka (he's more an attacking midfielder anyway) and Gallagher isn't good enough. As it stands, we will be worse than last season with that midfield.

Then our scouts need to find cheaper alternatives.

I would sooner go in to the season with Enzo paired with Lewis Hall, Santos or Trev,  than us spend 100mill on Caicedo.
