Have to give them credit if they pull it off. They missed out on the title as their core crumbled. Adding Rice and Moises makes for one top looking midfield.

The Athletic just reported United are a bigger threat to us than Arsenal for Caicedo. 

when we missed out on CL in Mourinho's stint and fnished 10th, though we were sh*t and had no europe to offer, we still had world class players and it was obvious we would be back.

This kind of feels different. It's been such a mess, I don't see how anyone can honestly look at the teams in the league and think we'll fnish top 4 next season, without a hell of struggle. So i think we're going to also struggle to attract all the players we want, when teams like Arsenal and even Man utd are more stable and can offer CL.

Gonna have to disagree. Think it's more likely Arteta and Arsenal revert to type. Think we'll win the league again before they do.

- The appointment of Pochettino definitely changed to scope on how people will view the club. It was a very smart and big appointment given how respected he is as a manager all across the globe. 

- The U20 WC was littered with Chelsea youngsters that all made an impression and went far. 

- We have a solid base of young and talented players. (James, Badiashile, Fofana, Colwill, Gusto, Chilwell, Enzo, Nkunku, Mudryk, Madueke)

 

Not being in Europe this season could honestly be a blessing in terms of seeing actual progression under this new regime.

is Caicedo worth 70 million quid?  I think it is looking to be more than that with add-ons.  Which seems a lot of money for a player who has only played 45 times for brighton. One good season.  Had he 3 good seasons of experience, then maybe.  This is a HUGE risk imho.  I would pass. But todd & Co. like to buy 'em young and get them on long contracts.

That's news to me. With United being in Limbo regarding new ownership and Arsenal not having enough funds to secure Caicedo, this could explain our laxed stance in negotiating with Brighton.

Arsenal need 5 players at least. Can’t see them spending close to 100m on two separate CMs. The Athletic even suggests Arsenal are prioritizing their big money signings first, IE Rice and Havertz. 
 

United a bigger threat for us regarding Caicedo.

You only need to look at the first 10/20 pages of the Mourinho thread (for some reason that one started when he was sacked) to know the narrative it was obvious we'll be back is hindsight at best.

He is an improvement over Fred but when your starting ST is weghorst, I will probably will focus on this area first.

I agree mate, but we (the Owners) have done this to ourselves. Good players want to leave because we no longer offer the big Champions League nights, prestige, bonuses etc and new players are refusing to join us for the same reason. I think that we honestly have to consider ourselves lucky not to have been relegated, as that would have been a whole lot worse, We will keep some very good players in James, Silva, Chilwell, Mudryk and must use them as a sound foundation to rebuild. I am optimistic that Pochettino is the right man to bring in and play regularly, players like Slonina, Casadei, Chukwuemeka, Colvill, Madueke Santos etc. and this could be exciting to watch and save us a fortune
