Its their careers. Their families. They do what is financially best for them and their families. If it coincides with their boyhood clubs happy days. In fact it is quite surprising for a player to still hold fondness for the club that released him. Anyone that has been through it knows its pretty brutal on the kids and i think Rice himself said in one of the interviews that he took it hard as well.

Not always true, look at Kanre signing an extension at Spurs. Joining Chelsea isn't exactly a bade choice either. Pay well, always challenge for silverware (a lot more than Arsenal) and the project is probably the most exciting in world football at the moment.

January 25, 20233 yr Author Wonder why Brighton are actively trying to sign a midfielder for RB Leipzig when they insist Moises is not for sale?
January 25, 20233 yr 8 hours ago, RIP Mourinho said: what's risky about it buddy? You’ve been clever for finding a loophole and spending big but it now limits what you can spend over the next 7 seasons, so your relying on about 40% of these signings reaching their potential for you to remain an elite club. If it works out then smart but there’s a small chance this strategy can backfire

At least Matic was an anchor for either of Cesc or Kante. I believe we will get slaughtered if the CMs have no tactical discipline. It's the very reason why Kante as a lone DM isn't effective. Enzo for 90% of the world cup acted as the anchor for Argentina. The thing that makes him bloody brilliant is that he has the technical ability and tactical awareness to play in a number of roles in midfield. You can either pair Enzo with an box to box agressor (De Paul) or a sitter (Paredes) and he will be equally as effective. Caicedo partners MacAllister doesn't he? Do they have issues in the transition? (Genuine question).

A season or so after signing for Brighton for £4.5m every f**ker is after him, so I disagree they are hard to come by. Same as Enzo Fernandez. Probably why scouting in South America is key. Benfica and Brighton are rinsing big clubs for their money While I do believe the price Brighton want is too much at this point I've never got the argument that players have to play X amount of games in X leagues to be considered proven. It's that exact argument that had people unironically comparing Wan Bissaka favourably against Reece. Edited January 27, 20233 yr by Argo
January 27, 20233 yr Bissouma looked good at Brighton, made the move to Spurs, and now look at him. Hardly pulling up trees.

Kante was also about £4.5m when Leicester signed him and only stayed one season before we got him.

Benfica and Brighton are rinsing big clubs for their money To be fair Brighton and Benfica don’t want to sell their players. They’re happy with them staying and we have no right to dictate how much they are worth. The ridiculous price is most likely to put clubs off buying them. We’re the ones trying to disrupt their squad and plans for the season. I can imagine us putting a ridiculous value on Reece James if the likes of Madrid come in for him.

Not to mention if it was a big deal to a player like Moises or Enzo then they should have insisted on a minimum fee clause that is realistic, like what Kante did. I mean he was hardly a star when Leicester signed him but he and his agent had the right idea. The other two did not though. Had Enzo insisted on a 70mill clause he would already be a Chelsea player. Moises insisted on a 60mill clause? On his way to Arsenal.
