Maybe 5/6 years ago, but high quality players are going to cost a lot of money. Even Casemiro who is 30, but quality, was bought by Utd for £60-70m. We should have been all over that tbh. Finding quality players in Jan is even harder.

January 16, 20233 yr What happened about that Alvarez from Ajax? Thought we were going back in this month for him.
January 16, 20233 yr Just now, WhiteWall said: We did........and Drinkwater!! Yeah that was ridiculous. He barely played and then got loaned out, the same as Bakayoko did. Barkley played a bit more, but again, he wasn't good enough. Although we did pay £18m for Barkley, rather than 40m like we did for Bakayoko. Drinkwater cost us what, £35m?

January 16, 20233 yr Hearing 60m will do it. Another 7 year contract FFP will be sorted as well. Funny. People will criticize Boehly and his American ways, but I can see more and more clubs adopting this kind of business in the future.

The club are taking and accepting the risk of giving a long contract to these players. If they bust, its on the club. If they do well, its on the club.

Torn between him & Rice, the latter is mooted to be available for £50m in the summer which could even be less if they get relegated. Leaning more towards Rice and the leadership abilities we are missing as a team.

If true I believe it will turn out as much better value than the last 60mill plus we gave to them for player...

Jan on his Football therapy podcast has cited Ben jacobs saying a January deal would cost at least 75mill @Sconnie Blue. Brightons CEO confirmed it would take a very big fee.
January 16, 20233 yr Liked what Ive seen of this guy not sure he's worth breaking the bank for. Not against the signing so long as Trossard isn't included.
January 16, 20233 yr He’d turn our season around, that’s how bad our midfield are. He’s much better then Zakaria and look at the impact he’s having! Yes we are desperate for a creative passer like Enzo but we also need decent defensive midfielders who can support the defence. It would be a very good signing imo
January 16, 20233 yr People need to come to terms that if we are wanting to replace Kante and Jorginho with equal or better quality, we are going to be breaking the bank.

I reckon we could be working on a double deal for him and Mac Allister. Prem proven, and could get them both for a bit more than Enzo, maybe 130mill.
January 16, 20233 yr What is Mac Allister anyway? Could of sworn he was a box to box/attacking midfielder, which he was for Argentina. But now he's a holding mid?
