July 9, 20251 yr Unfortunately I agree with you on fofana but he’s no use to us on the injury table, I’d suggest loaning him to France and seeing if he recovers but then signing a young cb would defeat that idea. Acheampong should be back up to James at right back and be emergency cover at cb.Sarr I don’t know a lot about but I would be surprised if he’s deemed ready straight away.

Getting rid of the worst player in history, and getting to keep a rolls royce of a player.... Felix gets held to a higher standard than most on here - unfairly in my opinion. He is one of the few who has genuine creativity, vision, and the ability to control the ball. Not perfect. Perhaps doesnt work hard enough and certainly not consistent enough... but infinitely better than the Jackson (and Mudryk, and Madueke, and current Nkunku, and Sterling, and George)

I'd take Benayoun over him any day.

July 10, 20251 yr I’m not big on statistics, giving away possession when ur trying to make something happen in the final third is part of the game, try again. However some basic stats are important or certainly tell a story. Goals and assists are important for forwards as is goals conceded and clean sheets for defenders and GK.I think Felix is a silky player, has all the skill in the world but for some reason he fails to affect the game in the key areas which he is there to do. Be as lazy as u like if ur doing the business up top.It was a strange signing to start with. It looked like Meresca never wanted him from the off. It was a wheel greasing deal that should never have happened if he wasn’t in the managers plans. Communicate. These SD’s were hired for their expertise, it’s like their learning on the job too.
July 10, 20251 yr He will be 26 in a few months. Even if he has a great season at Benfica, I don't think there are a lot of big clubs in Europe that would make a big move for him by the time he is 27 or 28.He is still an important name in European football, also backed by the most influencial agent in the world. Should do the clever thing and move to the Saudi league while his stock is still high and can sign a fat contract on his terms, given he is still young and an important name in world football. Should think with his brain, not his heart. He was once a top talent, but that does not mean he has to chase that same thrill, maybe it was never meant to be for him to become a top player.
July 10, 20251 yr Felix never settled after his galactico-level move to Atletico. He never got it going and that 120m pressed the boy. He truly is controlled by his agent basically. Every time the going is a bit sticky he calls the agent who helps him secure a move - and the agent laughs on his way to the bank. His representation and general lack of judgement has made him this weird vagabond. He seems a likeable enough boy and very skilled as well. I wish someone smart would help him. Now he is just making money to his agent by not playing football. Not sure that is something he wanted for himself even though he makes a bit of dough by just being basically a famous footballer. From Chelsea's point of view the best result is we sell him to Saudi's for a good fee but I'd prefer he goes to home to Benfica.

Low transfer fee and increase what they can pay (suits them/him - but not us), or higher transfer fee, but cant afford wages (suits us but not them).Win win win is Saudi. We get fee and offload him, he gets a hefty salary and platform in a less competitive league to shine, and KSA get a flagship player.

Took my lads to go and see the WWF wrestling there...we had a cracking time. Saudi people we met were all lovely, it wasn't super hot at that time, and the food was cracking. This time of year is a different proposition (as per our IM exchange). Bloody hot!
July 10, 20251 yr “Benfica are prioritising the signing of Joao Felix, and are preparing a €20m bid for 50 per cent of his rights. Felix is said to be willing to take a pay cut to rejoin his former club”That is a disrespectful offer.
July 10, 20251 yr Does that mean we still own 50% of him? do we get him for the first 19 games of the season, then send him to Portugal for the rest? What is this nonsense.

(Absolute criminal no one was sacked for his signing ). It’s similar to the Samu to Porto deal where there’s a fee up front and then every season they pay off the remaining right %.

I feel whoever sanctioned the deal needs to be sacked. Fans keep forgetting we paid €10m for a 6mth loan deal which was ridiculous, and we picked up his wages. Was bang average, went to Barca who passed on him, and somehow someone still signed off on a €52m deal.
