August 30, 20241 yr I am only surprised that they travelled out there today thinking that they had any chance of wrapping up this signing based on the wages offered. Was pretty clear that we were miles apart from Osimhen's demands.

Was there? Because Toney is a ticking bomb with his addiction and something we didn’t need as PR. Osimhen was pants against Madrid, and he’s got an ego the size of Lukaku. Who else is there as a quality, PL proven striker? I’d have gone tor Szmodics from Blackburn but had no PL experience, we will see how he fares at Ipswich.

Will see if Maresca tries them there, seems to prefer a big man up top though even picked palmer ahead of nkunku up top if I remember correctly

Too harsh for an 18 yo lad who’s just changed country and is starting to get senior minutes at Chelsea. He’s got the movement and gets into good positions, he’ll learn how to finish from the mistakes he’s made.

August 30, 20241 yr Looks like Dr. Socrates could be right. Supposedly Broja to Everton on loan with obligation to buy.

August 30, 20241 yr I've given the ownership and board a lot of leeway over the past couple of years, most would say too much, but the inability to bring in a top striker AGAIN is a massive failure on their part. It isn't as if it's a new problem either, we've needed a striker for years and yet again we've failed a manager by giving them a duff number 9. Another season of Jackson spannering shots over the crossbar and miskicking the ball is gonna be painful, let's hope the lads in the attacking positions behind him can make up for his inability to kick a football.

August 30, 20241 yr Looks like we waited until last minute so Osimhen had the choice of staying at Napoli or accepting our low ball wages. We tried to get him on the cheap and pressure him to accept our terms. The ownership/sporting directors need to learn that it's better to be a bit respectful instead of trying to penny pinch until the last minute. I don't mind them sticking to the wage structure and it's a good thing but you can't expect top players to buy into your project by negoatiating that way.

And some blindly follow this ownership, that they are anything more than money launders using our club to line their own pockets.
August 30, 20241 yr Osimhen feels massively overrated so it’s not such a big loss. If we lost out on a Raul in his prime then yeah I’d be pissed off but Osimhen isn’t really that. If he’s willing to go 3 months without football because we refuse to match his greedy demands it shows where his priorities lies. I am disappointed about Toney though. He would be perfect.
August 30, 20241 yr Probably against the grain here but I’m okay with this failing. Sure we could do with another forward, but I stand by argument that there are no ‘sure thing’ strikers on the market at the moment. Napoli are known for being horrendous to deal with, we tried to make it work, it didn’t. We didn’t cave and break our wage structure, we’ve not exposed ourselves to another huge fee for a forward after getting the last one off our books (Rom). Sure, it raises questions over our depth in that area. But I’ll stand by the fact we can get top 4 with what we have. If we were a team looking for a title, sure we may have needed him. But we aren’t, so we should be fine.
